I was ill last week and I spent my time devouring this amazing book. I am not always a fan of books about books (why don't you read the book they are talking about instead of reading about them?), but this time it was different. Andy Miller doesn't try to sell you books (even though now I am really curious about some of them), his is a journey to rediscover the pleasure of reading books rather than own them, because sometime we forget that buying a book is not enough. He spent a year reading all those books he always lied about, all those books he was supposed to read and he never did (a behaviour I start to find typical of Lit graduate, being part of that crowd myself), and the great thing is that he doesn't lie about how hard, and sometimes boring they are. They are all great books, but sometimes greatness is not so straightforward. It is an inspiring reading that lead me to the decision to start my own little List of Betterment of 5 great books (but I am positive it will grow) to be read by the end of the year. So thank you, Mr Miller, to remind me that reading is not about owning or showing off, it's about becoming a better person.
