4-1 Challenge: Blind Date (part 2)
"Donatello? Like the artist?"
April had a LOT of explaining to do. If this was some kind of joke. No, you sighed. You wanted to believe her. Despite your initial trepidation, you actually did want to get out and meet someone. Just to regain a small sense of freedom again.
Sure you needed to keep a low profile, but that doesn't mean you had to give up on everything...right? Besides, there's no way someone was actually walking around New York going by the name Donatello. New York wasn't THAT odd.
You vaguely remembered the pep talk you gave yourself yesterday in your apartment before this blind date.
Simpler times.
At the moment you stood motionless with your arms crossed in the middle of the night under a highway interpass. April was desperately trying to introduce this "Donatello" to you but nothing could have prepared you for this exact moment. A tall. Very tall. Thin, green, teched out turtle-man with glasses waved sheepishly at you from behind your famous news caster friend.
You didn't scream, or faint. It's not like you were afraid or upset. You just stood there deadpan. Your brain whirling with all the new information being thrown at you. Your eyes practically glued to your alleged blind date, at first out of shock, then curiosity....then you noticed he was rather toned and tall, did you say tall before? He was definitely tall, and he did smiley very sweetly at you.
"What exactly is going on here?"
Was the only thing you could muster.
April's shoulders slumped with the realization her previous attempts to explain the situation had not worked. She looked almost apologetically at this "Donatello", but he only smiled.
His eyes glimmer with profound curiosity as he stared back at you, he seemed almost impressed.
"I think I can take it from here, April."
He patted April's back as he stepped forward, now sporting a much more confident smile though his hands still fidgeted awkwardly with various forms of tech adorning his shirtless figure.
"I believe April told you my name, Donatello, but that's a mouth full. Donnie is fine."
He continued towards you in a friendly manner.
"I'm fairly knowledgeable by most standards, so I'm sure I can answer any questions you might have!"
At this remark he seemed almost sheepish, rubbing his arm but much closer to you now.
"I-" you opened your mouth, only to close it again.
What exactly were you supposed to ask about in this situation? I mean besides the obvious questions, like what are you? Or is this what life in New York is like?
The techy terrapin had such soft, friendly features. Inquisitive and intelligent eyes. An inviting smile and a shining recommendation from your only friend here. A quick glance at April told you how hopeful her was to see this work, it warmed your heart. The initial shock was gone now. You already came this far, why not see how strange life in New York could actually be.
Ask Donnie your question.
Do you like coffee?
Where did you get that tech?
How do you know April?
