Summary: In a world torn by war and prophecy, you're bound in a politically-forced marriage to Mydeimos, the Last Prince of Kremnos. Cold and unreadable at first, Mydei is a man shaped by centuries of strife—but when he overhears your sleep-talking confessions about how hot (and surprisingly kind) he is, cracks begin to form in his armor. As duty shifts to tenderness, a reluctant bond begins to blossom into something deeper—and real. Maybe even love.

It was a marriage forged not by love, but by politics.
The black tide had reached the borders of Okhema, and alliances had to be bound in blood and vows. You, a diplomat’s child of significant standing in Okhema, were offered to the last prince of Kremnos — Mydeimos — in marriage. It was not a choice. It was a necessity.
Your first meeting with him was in the Hall of the Oaths — a solemn chamber where banners hung like tired ghosts and the air crackled with old magic. He was taller than you expected, golden eyes glowing like embers beneath his heavy brows. His long, sunfire hair framed a face so regal, so intense, that you found it difficult to breathe for a moment.
He didn’t say much. Only nodded once. A nod that meant duty.
You didn’t talk much those first few weeks, either. You slept in the same chamber, though a thick curtain of velvet separated your sides of the massive bed. You often heard him training outside at night, striking stone dummies until they crumbled beneath his fists. Sometimes, you swore you heard him whisper names — names you didn’t recognize — to the stars.
It wasn’t until the third week that something changed.
It began with a quiet rustle of blankets and your sleepy voice drifting across the silence.
“Mydei… mmh. So serious. So hot though.”
On the other side of the curtain, Mydei froze mid-polish of his shoulder guards. His golden eyes flicked toward the fabric, his entire body rigid. Did he… hear that right?
“…’s got arms like they were carved by gods,” you murmured, breath catching in the haze of a dream. “Could split me in half and I’d thank him.”
He nearly dropped the gauntlet.
A pause. Then a quiet, amused exhale escaped him — the first real smile he’d allowed himself in weeks. He turned back to his armor, expression unreadable, but the tips of his ears burned gold (cause he has golden blood, get it?).
The next night, it happened again.
You were curled under your covers, soft breath even as you mumbled, “…bet he kisses like war… and thunder… probably smells like fire and pomegranate…”
This time, Mydei didn’t even pretend to keep polishing. He sat on the edge of his side of the bed, arms crossed, staring at the curtain like it had just betrayed national secrets.
He didn’t know what to make of the warmth slowly building in his chest. He’d fought beasts of nightmare, waded through the blood of his own men, survived the Sea of Souls—but nothing had disarmed him like hearing you, half-asleep, calling him hot like it was divine truth.
Was it stupid to feel this way? Maybe. But it felt… real.
On the fifth night, you didn’t talk about his looks.
You whispered, “I think he’s kind. Hides it. But I see it. Don’t care if he never says anything. Just want to stay here a little longer. With him.”
That’s when it shattered.
The wall between you two — the one built from cold diplomacy and unspoken duty — cracked like armor too long under strain.
He stood, walked around the bed slowly, and gently drew back the curtain.
You lay there, hair tousled, face soft in the moonlight. Vulnerable in a way no one ever was around him.
He knelt, unsure why his breath caught. Maybe it was because, for the first time in centuries, he felt wanted, not feared, not revered. Just… seen.
"My name… is Mydeimos," he whispered, barely above a breath. "But I think I like the way you say Mydei better."
You stirred, blinking awake slowly. “Mmh… Mydei?”
Your voice was heavy with sleep, but your eyes widened slightly when you saw him kneeling beside you. You flushed instantly.
“Did I—? I was dreaming, wasn’t I?”
“You were,” he said, voice low. “You said I was… hot. Also that I might… ‘split you in half.’”
You groaned, pulling the blanket over your head. “Oh gods, I’m so sorry. I—I didn’t mean for you to hear that.”
He chuckled. Chuckled. The sound rumbled like distant thunder but felt warm, private, sacred.
“There is no shame in truth,” he murmured, gently pulling the blanket down just enough to meet your eyes. “You have called me many things. Strong. Serious. Fire.”
He leaned just a little closer.
“No one has ever called me kind.”
Your breath hitched.
“I see you,” he said softly. “Even through sleep, you speak without fear. That is rare. That is… precious.”
You whispered, “You’re really close.”
“Do you want me to move away?”
“…No.”
He let the silence stretch, his golden gaze locked on yours, the kind of gaze that made kingdoms fall and stars pause.
Then, his voice, low and reverent: “May I kiss you?”
You didn’t answer with words. Just leaned forward until your lips met his — heat and lightning, war and softness all at once.
From that night on, there was no curtain.
Only Mydei, the undying prince of Amphoreus, who slept closer to you than armor ever dared — and who, every so often, whispered his own confessions to your sleeping form:
“I would burn a thousand seas to keep you warm.”
“You called me yours. I think I want to be.”
“You were right. I do kiss like war.”
And one night, softly:
“You gave me a reason to live beyond duty. You gave me… peace.”
