There is nothing without inspiration.
Before I start explaining how I write stories, I will tell you something about inspiration. As soon as you sit in front of a blank page, you will notice that you need to be inspired by something in order to create something new.
I’m not the only one who will tell you that.
It is also mentioned in the first chapter of the book in which I’m going to read one chapter a day. I strongly recommend it to you: “Your Creative Writing Masterclass: Advice from the best on writing successful novels, screenplays and short stories” by Jurgen Wolf.
It is always a good idea to either read classic books or watch classic films. They don’t necessarily need to be good, but they will definitely help you to figure out how others built up their stories.
I personally get inspiration by everything. So I already wrote a whole chapter about a single song, in one specific case it was “Pompeii” from Bastille. The characters in my story (with the current German title “Wolfsblut”) literally experience the eruption of the vulcano Vesusius.
But this is just one example. Even a conversation with a stranger in the train can be very inspiring.
If you are open to the world, you don’t have to look for inspiration, but it will come to you automatically.
