@rcdxiu - continued from here.
There was no rhyme or reason as to why Yun did some of the things he did. He was so old at this point, he sometimes figured dementia was slowly trying to take over his mind. Only after bouncing that thought around for a few minutes would he always remember that he was undead and the only dementia he might ever feel would come from a lack of blood. Since he was never without a donor, that would never happen. But still... it had to be something akin to dementia that brought the vampire to different graveyards each year. It had to be something along the spectrum of insanity even that always made him return to visit the different plots of land that had been set aside over the years.
"You poor sod.” He commented as he sat down by the headstone that read ‘Here lies Liao Xinyi - Man with no true home.’ The flowers within his grip tumbled to rest awkwardly along the edge of the headstone and the vampire sighed as he glanced up at the moon. “Truly, I must be daft to always come and visit one of my own graves upon my birthday.”
Reaching back into his pocket, Yun brought forth a flask of cognac he kept only for this situation. Twisting the cap off, he barely kissed the rim of the flask, the Hors d’Age within doing nothing to quench any thirst. The specialty liquor was just that, a specialty. Yun poured more of the liquor over the dirt that covered his supposedly rotting corpse than he allowed to slide down his throat. It was a gift to the person he used to be (Liao Xinyi) and a punishment for the man he was now (Qin Yun.)
Perhaps if he weren’t so stuck in self-loathing mode, Yun would have noticed another body within the confines of the supposedly consecrated land of the dead. It was not the movement of the stranger that drew his attention though, it was the meow of a kitten that suddenly emerged from the shadows. “Ah... hello there kitten.” Slim fingers reached out to pet the small creature, but clearly the feline understood what Yun was. Orange fur puffed up and small paws swiped at him as if to fend him off, actions that made the old soul laugh.
Only after watching the kitten retreat did he realize there was another nearby. His eyes, one golden, the other red as blood, focused on the other easily - “Come over and join me, brother?” Another vampire. How comical. Yun had come to escape the world that he called his own for a night, but not even 50 yards away sat another of his kind. A smirk danced upon Yun’s mouth and he patted the ground next to him. “I have candy... and perhaps more liquor. Help me show honor to what I once was...”
