Heirlooms of Tomorrow

A series of drawings analysing how the character of the ocean in Disney's Moana is portrayed.

Turning of the Tides In order to fight its lengthy legal battles, the sea sues the corporations who have marketed four items. The funds earnt through settlements and future royalties means the sea has the capital to keep fighting. This film explores the sea's feelings towards these items.

Ocean acidification, coral bleaching, overfishing, marine pollution; the sea has a lot to be angry about and it is clear that humans are to blame. This project takes events such as the appearance of red tides and rumours of missing ships in the Bermuda Triangle as "evidence" that the sea is a malignant force, intent on taking its revenge on humankind for the injustices which have been committed against the it. This scenario explores questions of personhood and ecology through the use of the cartoon landscape.

Sentient Object Agents

The project examines a plausible impossible, world scenario where Public Spaces are considered sentient and have been granted their liberation from corporation or council ownership. What ensues is a new tension between the public and the space. A battle over the ownership of these spaces takes place, and theatrical performances where props take centre stage to define the action, and boundaries of perception, between man and man-made.
