#rc mcs

I did a post on male LIs before. This time I’m looking at the female sprites, mostly MCs and some LIs. This is what RC provides and what I would like to see more of.

RC:

I have nothing against any of these MC sprites. The issue is that most of the white MC sprites have blue eyes. I think that’s kind of crazy, because this is the only sprite that could realistically pull off any eye color. Yet, there are only a handful that have brown or green eyes.

ME:

Here are some white women with different colorings. Madelaine Petsch is fair, but has brown eyes. Irina Shayk is Russian (!), but she has green eyes, brown hair, and naturally tan skin. Then Lucy Hale has dark eyes and hair, but light skin.

If I looked like Lucy Hale, would I be able to identify with one of the above MC sprites? Maybe at first, but seeing blue after blue after blue would probably get to me after a while.

Monica Bellucci is Italian with dark brown hair, eyes, and medium skin tone. But instead of being used for a white MC, her face would end up in the next category.

RC:

This is the racially ambiguous category of “slightly darker than the white MC” MC. It’s not even always olive skin tone. I think it’s meant for Latinx and Hispanic players, but then sometimes they’ll throw in a sprite that looks South Asian or Middle-Eastern. It just becomes “miscellaneous.” But often, this MC just looks Caucasian with a tan. Sometimes not even that. In PUB 2, that’s just another white girl with a warmer undertone.

Liren looks a lot like Monica Bellucci from above, just with slightly darker skin. Riley looks like Kylie Jenner, who is white with lots of spray tan.

In Te Amo 2, Diana has darker skin, eyes, and hair as a child. As an adult, she’s white.

ME:

Here are a mix of Mexican, Colombian, and Puerto Rican women. I was trying to find some distinct faces that don’t look like a white person with a tan. They all have very dark eyes and lower cheekbones. If you look at the RC sprites, they all have lighter eyes and high cheekbones.

This is not to say that there aren’t Latina and Hispanic women with light skin or blue eyes. I know there are. It’s just much more common to see dark eyes. Most of the human population has dark eyes, so dark eyes should be featured more!

RC:

I’m totally biased but I’m adding this category that I’d like to see more of: Indigenous. I didn’t include this on the men’s list, so I’m including all genders.

Ghita, Aviaja, and Kuno are Greenlandic. Flint is Native American. They’re all great.

Usually this type of sprite would fall under the racially ambiguous, slightly darker than white category. But I don’t think all those distinct backgrounds should be lumped together. I think it should be specified what that particular sprite is.

In 7 Brothers, Jaynie wasn’t just Type 2, brown girl. She was Puerto Rican. Even if a player isn’t that specifically, they can still select that sprite if they feel it comes close. My favorite sprite is Thai Ghita, but I’m not Thai. But at least she has an identity and isn’t just a bland, vague, brown shell.

ME:

There are so many different indigenous cultures. I’m honestly scared of how RC would portray an indigenous character within their own culture. But even if it’s just background information, it’d be great to see more indigenous representation. I mean, I’m practically melting over here staring at these guys. 🔥🔥🫠

RC:

I can see the Aishwarya Rai influence, but… what about some other beautiful South Asian women? Saraswati just looks straight up white to me.

ME:

All these women are so beautiful. Again, dark dark eyes. Olive skin. Strong brows. I would love to see more MCs and LIs that look like this. Preferably not as stereotypes.

RC:

I’ve already gone on about how I dislike light eyes on POC sprites, so I’m not going to focus on all the Asian sprites with blue eyes. My gripe is how similar these MCs look. The go-to is usually K-pop, Japanese, or a mix with Caucasian. They’re mostly fair skinned. I don’t mind these options, but I’d like to see some darker Asian MC options too.

ME:

Here’s a mix of darker Asian women with different ethnic backgrounds. Not only are they darker, but they have different features. Some have rounder faces, larger eyes, different nose shapes, etc.

There are 55 female MCs. I narrowed it down to 10, but it was not easy. There are so many beautiful MCs! I only included 2 sprites per MC, but it’s not limited to just those 2.

We have a lot of witches, princess types, some career women, and a sex demon. Here are some other types of MCs that I would love to see.

1. The quirky MC. Someone like Saga from The Missing. She has a distinct and unique sense of fashion and humor. She’s a little odd but lovable. This would, of course, take place in a more lighthearted book rather than zombie apocalypse.

2. The fighter MC. The closest I can think of is Lou, who’s a bodyguard. There are other MCs who fight under certain circumstances, like Vicky or Ellaire. But it’d be cool to have a MC who’s a fighter by profession and literally kicks butt every day. This could be as a soldier, superhero, secret agent, vampire killer, or zombie apocalypse survivor. I’ll take any one.

3. The vengeful MC. She doesn’t forgive. She gets even. She knows who killed her dog, now she’s after them. She’s angry, blinded by hatred, and doesn’t give a damn about the rules. She just wants them dead.

4. The genius MC. If the MC were like Caroline from The Desert Rose. For once, the MC is smarter than all the LIs. Of course, in a male dominated world, she has to know how to play her cards right. Can’t have those LIs feeling jealous or threatened. 🙄

5. The foodie MC. This is just because I love food. I love it when there’s food options we can choose, even in HSR. I’ll gladly take that can of sardines and airplane peanuts. But a foodie MC who gets to choose something delicious every episode? Forget hairstyles, I want food! Mmm Mmm. 😋 Maybe she’s a food critic. One LI could be the crabby chef she wrote a bad review about. Another LI could be a picky eater with the taste palette of a 6 year old — chicken nuggets, pb&j, and Tang, every damn day. 😜
