“Fuck Netflix.”

You’re sprawled over your carpet, the TV paused on the last episode of Drive to Survive, phone resting over your chest. You glare at the ceiling, Franco lying down beside you. The initial anger you felt has simmered down to an itching frustration and blanket resentment.

Your jaw ticks. And even when you feel your irritation sinking, you’re reminded once again of all you had to endure during your races. Being forced to censor your conversations because of the lingering Netflix crew, cutting your proudest moments short for a side interview, showing them around your apartment.

You turn to Franco, cheek flat against the carpet. “No, actually fuck them. Like, they spent all our races hounding us with boom mics just so our backs could appear in a two second frame?” Your jaw clicks as you meet Franco’s gaze. “I mean, I’m the first female F1 driver since the nineties, and you’re the first Argentinian driver in over two decades. You’d think that would be more relevant than a made up feud between Verstappen and Lando.”

Franco clicks his tongue, his annoyance clear as day. “Por mi que se jodan todos.” He shrugs, and though he’s trying to seem nonchalant, you can tell it irks him. Franco stares at you for a moment, attempting to relax his jaw. Then—

“Wanna go out to eat?”

You blink at him, straightening off the floor. “What?” He follows suit, shoulder brushing against yours. “It’s like two am. There’s nothing open at this time.”

“There’s a McDonalds around the corner.”

You arch a brow. “Okay? What’s…”

Franco clicks his tongue again, this time sounding less annoyed. “We were supposed to have fun tonight. I don’t wanna be hungry and angry at Netflix.”

You narrow your eyes. “The only reason you’re hungry is because you forgot to place the order at the restaurant we were gonna eat from before it closed.” You lean over your legs, resting your chin over them. “Plus, I don’t think I feel like being recognized at a McDonalds.”

Franco scoffs a chuckle. “You just said it is two am.”

You blow out your cheeks. “Fans wake up for races at four in the morning. You really think there won’t be someone who recognizes us there?”

He nudges your shoulder, curls sticking at odd angles. “Daaale…” Franco gives you a lopsided smile that makes something stir in your gut. You attribute it to the lack of sleep and frustration. “Come on. I think we deserve a few hamburgers.”

You purse your lips, though you can feel a smile starting to pull at them. Given the way a grin starts to light up Franco’s face, he can probably tell too.

You roll your eyes, shoving him playfully. “You’re paying.”
