Adventures while cleaning out my garage Rawleighs part 1
So a few days a go I was cleaning out my garage and I came across a manila envelope, on it was written "COOKBOOKS 1916". I figured it was filled with other files by now and it was just reused, but luckily it was filled with very old cookbooks. Yeah cookbooks, big deal right? Well lets just say I had some fun. I'll be going though each of the books/pamphlets inside over the next few days.
Without anymore explanation lets begin.
First up, Rawleighs Almanac, Cook Book and Medical guide.
The cover featuring a creepy lady and baby. This ought to be good.
So, this Rawleigh claims to know enough to combine an Almanac, cookbook and medical guide in a 20 page pamphlet eh? Who is this man?
Well here is a picture of the man who can solve all your problems:
He looks concerned. You probably shouldn't look concerned if your telling people what to eat and giving them medical advice...just a thought.
So the almanac, not too impressive, so I skipped to the medical guide, here is the banner for the section:
It is mildly concerning the fact that there seems to be a large quantity of alcohol in her pantry... Maybe not the best choice to say this is the kind of people that follow your medical advice, again, just my opinion.
So, being the nervous person I am, I wonder hey, what does this Rawleigh character suggest? apparently this:
So, apparently I should bath in salt water, take it easy, but still work, and take 3 to 6 bottles of Rawleigh's sarsaparilla. Right.
Then came the diseases that, well modern science has kind of ruled out. Such as Blood Poison, which seems to be a mixture of tetanus and rabies.
Eh put some antiseptic solution on it, it will be fine.
Or if your blood isn't poisoning you, it may just be impure.
Hm.... Pimples, check, lack of appetite, check, lack of ambition check. Hmm. According to Rawleigh, my blood might be impure. Time for more of his sarsaparilla.
ON TO THE COOKBOOK!
The only thing that caught me about the cook book was Beef Tea....
So, meat can turn white...that is news to me.
So near the end were adds for beauty products
Somehow, having chewbacca/ cousin it as your model for beauty may not be the best idea, but again, just my opinion. Also it is advice from a guy who looks like this
Theres more odd things just in this Rawleighs book but I'll post more later, this is already far too long.
