Raw cannabis, THCA | Sativa
In 2013, I was diagnosed with a list of gastrointestinal illnesses like Ulcerative colitis, IBS and Crohnâs. Consuming cannabis has helped me control the chronic pain, inflammation, nausea and loss of appetite.Â
Cannabis contains nutrients, antioxidants, cannabinoids and terpenes, which are responsible for its therapeutic effect.Â
But consuming the plant in its ârawâ form is different. For starters, its components arenât psicoactive. Meaning, that it doesnât make us feel âhighâ.Â
Whatâs THCA?
Youâve heard of THC, right? Thatâs because as the leaves and âbudsâ are heated, the THCA slowly turns into THC. This is possible even with the power of the Sun. And your lighter. So when we light up a joint, vaporize or cook cannabis, the THCA turns into THC, making it psychoactive.Â
THCA, one of the components in cannabis, again, it isnât psycoactive.Â
I have been consuming raw cannabis for many years and in different ways. Like juicing, as a sublingual and in salads. Iâve come to notice the way it improves my digestive system, from digestion to healing.Â
Juicing
The first time that I tried âcannabis juiceâ, was with my second harvest. I took the leaves and placed them in a juicer. Growers typically tend to throw them all away. But I like to keep and consume everything. I was able to consume small âshotsâ of this plant in its raw and natural state.Â
Flowers or Buds
I mainly use the leaves, but we can also use the âbudsâ or flowers. First we must make sure that our plant is healthy and doesnât contain any pesticides. For the buds, we want them âfreshâ and not âcuredâ.Â
Something I have also learned, is that we can also consume its roots by turning them into a powder and adding them to smoothies.Â
âPhytochemicals are substances found in foods of plant origin, biologically active, that are not essential nutrients for life (at least in the short term), but have positive effects on health,â Wiki.
Sublingual
The second time that I consumed it in its raw form, was in California. It was a THCA sublingual and I could tell a difference in my energy and overall wellness. The moment I stopped consuming it, my body slowly reverted to how it was before consuming it. Daily pain, nausea, etc.Â
Cannabis cultivation
But this THCA sublingual wasnât available at any dispensary.
I drove to LA, to where the grower was. He grows his own plants and then processes them. After picking up a batch at the âlabâ, I was invited to stay at the ranch. That next morning, before everyone woke, I went outside to catch a glimpse of the terrain. The ranch was in the mountains and tt was cold, so I grabbed my jacket and headed out. As I was walking back, my grower friend tells me with a big smile,âhere, donât come back until this is fullâ as he hands me a basket and points to one of his green houses.Â
I walk inside the green house and itâs full of âbabyâ cannabis plants. I picked them out and went back. Where my friend was preparing and cleaning a juicer.Â
âYou arenât the only person that talks about its benefitsâ, he tells me. âin its raw form, itâs the most natural thing that you can consumeâ.Â
I do believe that raw cannabis has been a part of the improvement in my health and I hope that you also give it a try.Â
