hi, i’m marina! I’ve been following study blogs for a while now and it was just about time for me to join, so i guess this is my first post.

who am i 

i’m brazilian and nineteen years old. i’m graduating in journalism, but this is my third university year since i ditched law school after three semesters. so, now, what i’ve been (and will be!) studying is most of all writing and language, along with, honestly, a little bit of everything else. i’m also a lesbian, wannabe decent piano player, crazy kitten lady, emotional hair dyer and night owl, so that’s the combination. my main is @willdestdreams!

why am i here 

having studyblrs around for the past months has been really helpful in turning learning from a very anxiety ridden thing into grounded, light moments of growth. so thank you, @elkstudies, @studyquill, @emmastudies (printables that save lives), @studylustre, @minzemind (just found you today, actually. but cool that we’re both starting!), @piiess, @apricitystudies, @horanastudy, @ohghiblies (SO beautiful???), @goodtea-studies, @lilypadstudies, @studydaisyy, @ehtudiante, @littlestudyblrblog, @lostlxmb, @chemistri, @ravnclaw, @chrissiestudies, @violinandchill, @academc, @ploverstudies, @sunflowerstvdy, @obliviatestudies. i’ve been following most of you since forever and it really made my life a little nicer.

hi everyone. it’s been a while.

when i first made this blog, i was hoping to inprove my way of studying, my way of learning. my final goal was to had better grades, to be the best student, to learn how to be better academically. i think that’s why i left not much later.

it wasn’t my intention, really, to leave. i still love this community, still love the concept and the people and almost everything about it. the problem was me.

i always had some issues about how much i push myself to be the better one (better student, mostly), and that always has been a problem. last year was a wake-up call in many ways, that included, and i thought having a studyblr was going to help with that. it didn’t. it was a stressful year and somehow i ended up turning this amazing space into something toxic for me, like i somehow did with school. i presured myself into being something else, something better, than i was, and that’s not bad, but i did it in a way that harmed me more than help. so i ended up staying away, more focused in dealing with the stress school was giving to me than a social platform. 

since then, i dealt with a lot of those voices in my head saying that i needed to be better, better, better. better than i am, better than everyone else. i dealt with those voices saying that i wasn’t enough, that everything i did just wasn’t enough. i’m still dealing with them, and now i want to try to use this space not as a way to learn to have better grades, but as a way of learning how to get good grades and not make the process feel like hell. i think i deserve it.

so, yeah, maybe my notes aren’t always pretty or my handwriting is a mess, maybe i review before a test in spare scraps of paper and maybe i procrastinate a lot; i also may not take the best pictures, or have the best advice, or the best stationary. but i want to grow as a student, and really, isn’t that what studyblr is about?
