The fact that he was arrested literally the day after his final appearance in front of the inquiry when no actual investigation of any kind could have been done into any allegations against him there (unless there was some long simmering case against him like with phone hacking that we never heard about — much like the data smuggling that came from nowhere) the arrest and resultant public humiliation for Malcolm could be construed as completely politically motivated and an enormous win for everyone who didn’t like him, which would cover a huge range of people from JB sitting in Number 10 to Steve Fleming in whatever dark opposition hole he’s crouched in. 

The inquiry itself, which was supposed to investigate the death of Mr Tickell and the culture of leaking was, from what we saw of it, more or less a complete witchhunt targeting Malcolm from the start even though — as I’ve said many times before — neither he, nor his party were in power when Mr Tickell was made homeless, or were the people or party that persecuted him to the death.
