This is the first time I'm officially posting my OC Aditya Chandel, Alpha of London, from my comic Rathuni. He is head of the pack of werewolves within the London territory and reports to the Holy Church of the Eternal Knighthood.
"Addy," as he is called by fellow Londoners, was born in 15th century India within the Bundelkhand region. He was a raja newly married to a lifelong friend, though his private life was tormented by his homosexuality and his constant need to hide it. He was bitten by what he thought was a wolf, and suffered strange symptoms towards the full moon. On that fateful night, he transformed and rampaged, killing everyone in the palace...beginning with his wife on the bed.
What followed was a torturous existence as a fugitive, wandering the forests and interacting with humans only sparingly until he could discern what was plaguing him. He is one of the many werewolves who have had to learn from experience, and without a teacher.
After around two hundred years in India, he migrated to England, where he made a living performing multiple odd jobs, one of which was posing for painters in the 18th century. His biggest gig was as the husband in William Hogarth's Marriage a la Mode series.
When we meet him in our current time in the comic (1843), he has been appointed Alpha of London and works to keep relations between humans and werewolves peachy and uneventful, though not always with success. He has several rivals beneath him who wish to usurp his authority, mostly based on his "soft" tactics towards humans but also including his position as an "outsider" (despite his two century settlement in England) based on race. He is also a very small man, and this alone can prompt werewolves to engage him in battle, though he is a cunning fighter and skillfully defends his position.
Aditya's personal damage has caused him to dissociate into a callous personality to avoid the guilt of his family's death, as well as the many horrific events that followed his misfortune afterwards. He is an agnostic Hindu, never fully admitting his belief in the gods, but in his heart he believes he is being punished by Lord Shani for the sins of his current life as well as those that came before. Despite his profession that all men make their own destinies, he feels himself bound by kismet, and his tough and apathetic nature keeps him from sinking into hopelessness...most of the time.
Addy is also a werewolf who has reached his "true form," meaning that he can transform at will into a wolf and is no longer affected by the full moon. Part of his role as Alpha is to help others reach their true forms as well, which has become the greatest purpose in his life, as part of a way of making up for destroying his own.
