Hey guys I know this won’t get a lot view but I feel like I still need to say it.
CANADIAN ARE NOT PERFECT.
All the tropes about us being so nice it’s kinda a little frustrating because yes I want it to be the reality so badly you don’t even understand. But we do have horrible things happening here and sometimes saying that « we are better then America » or that « we don’t have it as bad ». Is just gonna be an excuse and erasing are faults. And I want my fellow Canadian to realize that.
So yes we do have racisme and sistematic racisme here, we do have sexisme and homophobia/ Transphobia in Canada. One of my friend got her hijab ripe off, an other got arrested just because he was a black man driving at night, the new sidewalk promoting the LGBTQ+ in my town got vandalized two days after it was made. I personally got told to speak « Canadian » and « go back to Quebec » while speaking French in Ontario with my friends and don’t let me start about the horrible treatment First Nation get here.
Canadian are not perfect and we need to realize and speak about that because for change to happen we need to admit our fault and work on it.
The New Definition Of Rascim!
Merriam-Webster has announced that it will change the definition of the word ‘racism’ to reflect the "idea of an asymmetrical power structure into the language of this definition". This, after a series of mails from a 22-year old college graduate in the US, Missouri resident Kennedy Mitchum, who told the dictionary's editors that their definition of racism — "a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race" — was "not representative of what is actually happening in the world".
