OOH i was a huge reader as a kid, so i had a lot of favorites!! i don’t recall ever reading geronimo stilton, though 😔
my first ever chapter book series was the boxcar children— my mom read me the first couple chapters at home, and when we reached the end of a chapter that had a cliffhanger, she just stopped. i BEGGED to know what happened next, and my mom told me that i would have to keep reading the book on my own if i wanted to find out. it worked, i ate that thing up in a matter of days afterwards LMAO
some of my other early favorites were the magic treehouse series, a series of unfortunate events, and ESPECIALLY animorphs!!!! as a furry/therian/trans kid/autistic kid, i CANNOT overstate how vital and dear animorphs was to baby adrian. i think that series was way ahead of its time in its handling of sensitive, difficult topics like war crimes, genocide, and mental health, and it was a GIGANTIC influence on me in terms of my storytelling tastes and sensibilities. can’t recommend the series enough if you’ve never checked it out!
