A little bit of a rant about conduct on the fighting field.
This weekend I went to 12th Night in Nordskogen and got back into my rapier kit for the first time since September. At some point we got a bear pit tournament going with about 18 participants. We formed two lines so we could get more rounds in and great fun was had by all of us.
Well at least most of us. One man became upset that some of the fights were lasting too long for his liking. He began yelling “Die faster!” again and again especially when he was close to getting back in the ring. This is what I would consider quite rude behavior for a few reasons. 1) We all want to get more fights in, but we should be patiently waiting our turn instead of acting out. 2) The people in the ring are fighting quite well and lasting longer in the ring can be a sign of good skill. 3) This is discourteous to the other fighters.
I did not speak up because I felt it was not my place, but next time I will. It is up to all of us to create a positive environment in the ring. It is also important for more accomplished fighters who have been playing longer to set a good example for the newer fighters as to how they should behave in the ring.
I think this shows quite well how Sallus would fight in most settings.
