your 'canon' Hawke romanced Isabela. what are your thoughts on some of the uncomfortable comments she can make at Fenris about his past se*xual abuse? i especially dislike the "glistening" banter because it's just such an inappropriate and horrible thing to say to a SA survivor. like, Is can be a se*xually (i'm trying not to get it filtered) confident woman without mocking survivors, so WHY did the devs add that part? it wasn't funny at all. i just pretend that horrible banter doesn't exist.
I think it's important to remember two things about Isabela:
Isabela likes to use jokes to hide sensitivity.
Isabela was sold into a marriage with a grown man against her will at age 18, who treated her like his "exotic plaything". Isabela is canonically a rape survivor herself.
With that in mind, I think Isabela is trying to relate to Fenris, not mock or ridicule him. It's still a poor comment, yeah, but the fandom makes Isabela out to be some predator when that's not the case.
I knew Aveline is the worst from like, her very existence, but I just played a rivalry aggressive Hawke playthrough and I'm fucking LIVID. I thought I'd been shocked by it all but NOPE, ended up staring at my screen and saying "Bitch, did you just?!"
Aveline turned on Hawke in the Fade and Hawke was (rightfully) like, "Dude, are you going to apologize for attacking me and shit? Maybe you don't have as much closure from your husband dying as you thought." And Aveline just. She fucking didn't apologize for TURNING ON HAWKE but tried to make it about HER and.
She fucking SAID something along the lines of "omg you're blaming me for my actions? For the demon getting in my head?" And the words "Do the beautiful ask to be raped" LEFT HER FUCKING MOUTH.
Didn't apologize for TURNING ON HAWKE. Just spat that shit out!!
Then was like "Go have fun or something there is work to do" as of HAWKE doesn't do the jobs gaurds are supposed to do. As if she hasn't told Hawke "ey, so I won't make my people do this dangerous thing that is literally a part of their job description, but I'm going to try and guilt you into it and then give you shit for it. Like a dick.".
And then!! HOW BIG WOULD YOUR GALLOWS BE met with her backtracking!! I've read your addressing that bit before but OMFG MOTHER CLACKER.

Do you have any thoughts on justinia and leliana's relationship? From what little i remember of leliana's song she didn't actually do that much to help leliana at her lowest point, and it kinda just seems like she used leliana to do her dirty work, which admittedly is the job of the left hand, but considering how they met and how heavily its implied leliana was raped in the dungeons it seems kinda gross
I do think that Leliana saw Justinia through some level of rose-tinted glasses, because her help in Leliana’s escape. As Divine, Justinia did good things and bad things, but Leliana did not want to see the bad, if you know what I mean?
I think Justinia felt guilty about using Leliana as the Left Hand, as evidence by her personal quest in DA:I. But in that quest, Leliana refuses to see it as Justinia using her, and asserts she did nothing outside her own volition. This could be more of Leliana not wanting to see bad in Justinia, but I would prefer to think it as Leliana reassuring the Inquisitor and herself that she never lost her autonomy.
I apologise for the very dark question, *trigger warning: Sexual assault.* The fanbase have decided that Darkspawn r*pe women to reproduce. But Darkspawn are otherwise asexual, and Hespith's poem just says 'she grew as in her mouth they spew. Eighth day, we hated as she is violated.' Which sounds like they're vomitting the taint into her, and the 'violated' line could be that? Basically is there any canon statement that they r*pe women elsewhere, or is this fans taking interpretation as fact?
There is zero canon statement about the darkspawn raping anyone. I seriously doubt they are even capable of it.

Is it just me, or is the Guardian's question for a city elf at the Gauntlet absolutely disgusting? I mean, he's trying to guilt you for doing everything you could to protect your friend from rapists. And you can say, "No, Lord Vaughn is to blame," but you can't say that it was Lord Vaughn, his friends, the guards that protected him, and human oppression that was to blame. And if you say that, Alistair says something like "I can't judge you for YOUR mistakes." It's some victim-blaming bullshit.
The companion and guardian reactions are all the same, based on if the PC accepts blame or denies blame, regardless of the question asked. So it does come off grossly victim-blaming when the question is “how could you let your cousin get raped?” Not well thought through at all.
That said, I do think it’s intentional that the Guardian is trying to drag the PC and party members into guilt. Some of the companions comment on how this is a typical of Andrastianism--though their statements are blanket statements of all religion when really they just mean that one, much like many folks in real life :/
