what's something from their childhood that changed who they were as a person to this day?
I actually discovered something today, so this is a perfect opportunity to share!
When Khalid “adopted” T’ke, he never named him. He called him ‘boy’ or ‘ghost’ or some other derogatory nickname, and T’ke’s mother had never given him a name. When he was three or four, Ranol joined the caravan as a young teenager. He grew attached to T’ke, and ended up naming him after a legend from his home. T’ke’s namesake is a trickster god, and he was glad to have a real name to go by, much less one so fitting.
After T’ke saved Ranol from a potentially mortal wound, Ranol was sure he had made a good decision in giving the little slave a name. And, maybe, he had even helped create a little god.
