Sorry about the usual "what did i miss" notification flood lol. So yeah that sure did happen, here's to a different subject for your possible entertainment: would you be so kind as to talk about how you astral travel? i almost managed once and i'm still trying so any advice or just knowing how others go about it is good.
Don’t take my advice, nobody does it the way I do it and doing it the way others do it doesn’t work for me. xD
I do it through my writing, in a very weird way. I put on some good music - Hariko’s Root of Roots is a good starting song, I have a playlist - open a document typically in FocusWriter with the background set to one of my many pictures of anime-style forest paintings, and imagine myself walking on that path. By the time I’ve made it out of the part of the path that’s in the picture, I’m on the Road and only attached enough to my body to backspace on typos when they appear.
I write this entirely in second person, eg: “Run, dear one, run with the balls of your feet barely skimming the ground, tail left a graceful trail behind you. The dirt is a little damp and squishes under your feet and never gets between your bare toes, notice the flreflies in a myriad of colours shimmering around you, watching your journey, bringing word to the temple that their King has returned. Keep going and don’t look back. Watch how sunbeams shift through the canopy and dance their way to the ground, look up as you run to a black-velvet sky splattered with stars like glitter across the heavens. The air is fresh and clean and you are alive.”
I usually don’t stop writing for even a moment while I’m travelling, and my hands are entirely on autopilot, frantically transcribing what’s going on both inside and outside of my body. There’s usually only a few places I’m really good at accessing using this method, but they’re usually the most vivid and I have the best connection to.
While doing the astral travel / reality shifting that lead me into Lore, chaorrupting myself, and gaining a kintype; it didn’t work this way. I swapped places with Ranisson - if you’re determined enough and scroll far enough back on this blog, you can actually find some of her posts - and she ran my body while I ran hers in her world. I... don’t actually know how I did that. I could induce it sort of by calling for her, and when she answered, we tended to switch. She never called me, but Drakath did. So far as I know, he was the one who set up the connection in the first place. He wanted a method of getting his adopted children, all of us, out of harm’s way if everything went south. He opened up portals to worlds just like the Avatar had been researching how to do, made the connections, and went about testing if he could send them all away if the world was going to die, hopefully so that if the crisis was averted, he could bring them home.
He realized that since I couldn’t pull Ranisson into my body without crossing into hers that the experiment was worthless for what he was doing. He liked us world-travellers well enough, we helped as best we could and provided some useful recon from our experiences in primarily being from other worlds; but we weren’t the solution he needed. Eventually it got too dangerous to let world-travellers with zero military experience to pilot the bodies of his chaorrupted with significant military experience, and he shut it all down. I haven’t been back in Lore in five years. I don’t know if any of them are okay. I don’t even know if I’d be able to tell if Ranisson died, though I walked away with all of her memories and her experiences, and she walked away with all of mine. I hope she can tap into the powers I had as a Devil, it might save them - or might have saved them, I don’t know.
I like to think that if Drakath survived and so did our counterparts, he’d open the connections up again. I loved him as family, and I loved them all, and I want to know how it ended. Good or bad, at least then I have an answer. Maybe he’ll do that one day. I’ll be waiting for him if he does.
