Kiss the Rain (Not Inspired by Billie Myers)
So you step out from your apartment, and lock the door. You walk down the hallway in your best winter jacket...thinking "Sure, it's still spring...but it's cold outside, so better to be prepared."
You walk out the doors and see the rain falling. You ponder if the cumulonimbus clouds are out, the same way Neil Finn must have pondered when he wrote "When You Come" more than 20 years ago. You know the winds are going to pick up later on, but you're not going to let some wild weather get in the way of having a good time.
You also begin to wonder a potential symbolism for rain. Sure it helps the flowers grow, and washes the cars without you paying a cent. But could it be true that rain may be the perfect cleansing for one's soul? The obstacles of a long week go by, you fighting the elements of the working life, and when you get to the weekend, you want nothing more than to enjoy the beauty of a fun, easy living lifestyle.
Sure, Monday will come around again, and you'll have to start the whole working life process again. Yet on a Saturday in Rochester, you stop standing at the steps of your apartment building...and go to your car...and just drive, letting the day carry you in whatever direction it chooses. And you love it.
