I really like the greatest showman, but when I watched it for the first time I was 9 years old and didn't really process everything fully. I got the basic message of the film but racism was something I didn't really know about till I was around 11 or 12. So when I watched the film for the first time and saw Zendaya was playing an acrobat in the circus I was like "What the hell is Zendaya doing there??? I thought this was a circus for alleged freaks, why you got Zendaya in there?!?!? She's incredibly hot and there's nothing wrong with here!! And she has a jacked brother??? Dude, these people do not belong here!!! What do you mean you think Zac Efron deserves someone else? He is lucky if he doesn't fuck up this romance plotline!!"
Now looking back, it's cause Zendaya's character was black and she would've have to deal with a lot of racism for the time the film's set in. But tbh... I still kinda agree with 9 year old me XD
