It took a little over half the day for Naruto to-- despite having planned for this day all week-- remember the occasion. " Hey-- WAIT, HANG ON! " He jumped out of his seat and scrambled across the T&I break room where he'd gone to see Shisui during his lunch break. His hands gripped the Uchiha's shoulders and shook violently as his facial features showed a mix of excitement, confusion, and embarrassment. " Shi-su... Happy birthday, 'ttebayo! It's today! "

“Hey, hey! Quit! I’m trying to eat here.” Thankfully he’d had the foresight to toss his food down on the plate the moment he saw Naruto launch himself out of his chair. If he hadn’t, there’s a good chance it would’ve ended up on the floor, and that would’ve ruined his whole day. “Yeah, it’s my birthday, did you just now remember that?” The look on the blond’s face confirmed it, honestly. Shisui was honestly hoping he’d forget about it entirely - he hated being reminded that he was getting even older. He didn’t mind the gifts and sweets, of course, just the ‘you’re so old’ jokes. Even though he was mostly village-bound, late twenties was practically ancient for ANBU standards. Whatever, it just meant he was damn good, right?
Grinning, he pried Naruto’s hands off of his shoulders. “Thanks, kit. What d’ya get me?” He said, teasingly, “Or did you forget that, too? You better at least get me some cake.”
