Hiii you asked my friend about rambubond and I happen to be the person who came up with the ship (well I think there might've been a few people shipping it before me but I'm not sure) anyway I think they are so so sweet, your assessment of them is very accurate I think!
What is special about them to me is that I think Vagabond would be a huge source of comfort for Rambutan if she were to visit the yakgwa village while still trying to defeat longan dragon. Vagabond would listen to her doubts about her not being a good chieftain and he'd reassure her that she is doing everything she can. He understands because he too would do anything for the people of his village. And while most people may underestimate him and assume he's just lazy and only wants to help himself, Rambutan understands him as well and she instantly recognizes this about him and admires this about him.
I also just love that they're strong tall gf x silly short bf lol. They spend a lot of time just relaxing and talking while sitting under a tree. Vagabond sings a lot of songs for Rambutan. She's his biggest inspiration yet. And she loves every single one.
I'm glad I assumed the basic dynamic of the ship correctly! Being the creator of a ship is so cool, though I assume that at times it might be a little lonely. I'm glad that you have a few friends who also ship it!

One headcanon for you (it's a very simple one): The Yakgwa elders were super excited when first meeting Rambutan. She was very humble when introducing herself as a village cheiftain. They threw a feast for her and wanted to listen to her story, even though she was insecure and reluctant to share because she thinks that she failed her village. To encourage her and to tell everyone her story as a heroine, Vagabond suddenly broke into song and drastically cheered up everyone, especially Rambutan.
