This is nothing new (if it even is a real thing lol). We have an entire generation of wrestling fans who have been mad at CM Punk for over a decade because they worked themselves over the pipe bomb and made him a martyr for Real Wrestling even as he said the fans were part of the problem.

Becoming a CM Punk fan in only the last couple of years, I love it when people call him a sellout or a hypocrite, or say he's "not a real punk anymore".
Outside of kayfabe, it's just...are you fucking serious? Despite how good he is on the mic, the realest thing he told you was that he wanted to be the top guy at the most successful wrestling company, and he's acting exactly how he needs to to stay there now that he's got there. (Even if that damages the character he played on TV 10+ years ago)
Within kayfabe, it's soo good though, like yes, he's exactly who you say he is, and I love him even more for pulling the wool over everyone's eyes so blatantly and continuing to get away with it than if I didn't see through it.
