Day 30: The End! And, a tiny assignment.
Eid Mubarak!!! Many Muslims have been feasting (Eid means “feast/festival/holiday”) and celebrating all day – depending on how you sight the moon and where in the world you live, Eid was either today or will be tomorrow. Ahsan’s family masjid follows a visual sighting, which didn’t appear before midnight last night in Brampton. So, in about 30 minutes, they will break their last fast. Tomorrow, a morning trip to the masjid for prayers followed by a big family gathering with Ahsan’s mom’s incredible cooking and several sets of ronicky children.
Because so many of you have followed along this month, to me you are part of this celebration. Mubarak means “blessings/congratulations” – so Eid Mubarak to you! Thank you so much for your thoughtful reading and learning. As my final Ramadan step (now 19 minutes away), I (the non-Muslim) encourage you (the mostly non-Muslims) to wish the Muslims in your life “Eid Mubarak” (akin to “Merry Christmas” or “Happy New Year”). Many of you are friends with Ahsan – free to write it on his Facebook page or in a private message or email. Many of you have never met him – feel free to leave it here in the comments section as well and I promise I’ll show him.
4 minutes to sunset. I fasted today as well and am counting the seconds until the palak paneer.
Ramadan is over/soon to be over! Much love to those who reached the end
