Hi Ali! Congratulations on this online milestone! â¤ď¸ May I please request Gladnis + Absolution. Thank you so much. You deserve all the love. â¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¤ď¸
(Thank you so much for following and for your support! I hope you enjoy some Gladnis set in the verse of nothing gold can stay below. <3)
Gladio knows of the Six, but in Kilika, they only worship the Archaean, patron deity of earthshifters, god of the land. Â When Ignis suggested taking him to the temples of the other five, geographically situated across Insomnia, Gladio jumped at the chance.
He wasnât expecting this.
From the outside, the Tidemotherâs temple appeared fairly modest, its circular exterior composed of slate grey stone. On the inside, howeverâŚ
âRather stunning, isnât it?â Ignis asks.
âYeah⌠yeah, you could say that.â
As soon as Gladio enters the temple, Ignis at his side, his ears are filled with the sound of rushing water. Â Now that heâs past the wide, wooden doors, he can see the semi-circular fountain spilling from the balustrade, a continuous waterfall with no discernable source. Â A balcony rests behind the source of the water, priests and priestesses roaming the hallways in their deep blue robes.
âFollow me,â Ignis says, beckoning Gladio with elegant fingers, and Gladio happily follows.
The narrow aisle that serves as the entry to the temple gradually widens into the temple proper, but Ignis doesnât continue into the open space. Â Instead, he diverts to the left, where a wide, shallow basin of crystal clear water resides.
âItâs customary to perform ablutions before entering the Tidemotherâs temple,â Ignis explains, pupilless emerald eyes swirling in the soft light of the space. Â âItâs also tradition for someone else to perform the ablutions for you,â he adds, a slight blush colouring sharp cheekbones and pale cheeks. âWould you like me to demonstrate?â
âSure,â Gladio says.
Ignis dips one curved palm into the basin of water, a shallow pool gathered in his hands. Â When he lifts his hand up, Gladio bends down, instinctually meeting Ignis halfway. Â Ignis pours the modest amount of water over his head, and then trails three fingers down Gladioâs face from forehead to lips, the tips of them slippery and wet. Â The water is pleasantly warm, and though Gladio wonders how practical this ritual is in Lucisâ winter, he appreciates the gesture.
âWould you be so kind as to repeat the ablutions for me?â
Gladioâs heart beats one furious beat before settling. âOf course.â
He repeats the gesture for Ignis, cupping his hand in the basin and gently tipping the contents of his hand over Ignisâ head, running his fingers gently down Ignisâ face. Â If Ignis minds the way the water flattens his hair or soaks through the thin, stretched fabric of his shirt, he doesnât say anything.
âDidnât figure you for the religious type,â Gladio ventures. Â Heâs spent long enough around Ignis to feel comfortable broaching the subject.
âIâm not, generally. HoweverâŚâ Ignis takes off his glasses and cleans them on a dry sleeve before returning them to his face. âThe Tidemotherâs blessing reflects absolution, a literal and figurative washing away of your ill deeds and sorrows.  I find personal satisfaction in the ritual.â
As curious as Gladio is about what Ignis could have done that needs washing away, he decides not to pry, figuring Ignis will tell him more when the time is right. âMakes sense.â Gladio gestures to the temple at large. âLead the way.â

Hello Xy! How about 83 and 84 for the 100 Questions Ask. âĄâĄâĄâĄâĄ
Hi Rai! Thanks for stopping by!
83. Whatâs something most people donât know about you?
I had cancer when I was 17! Â I know Iâve talked about it on tumblr a bit, but most people in my real life donât know it unless they have known me a very long time.
84. Whatâs something you wish everyone knew about you?Â
This is a really hard question because contrary to my outgoing Xy persona online, Iâm actually a pretty private person offline. I guess I wish everyone knew that contrary the professional, poised exterior I force myself to maintain in 95% of my interactions, life is really hard for me, too.
For writing prompts: how about Prompto and sunrise. :)
My original idea was quite fluffy, but this is me so it became bittersweet post-canon almost-promnis instead. Hope you enjoy it, lovely, and thanks for the wonderful prompt â¤ď¸. I loved writing this!
Prompto had to admit this had been a good idea.  Heâd forgotten how peaceful it was to listen to the silence, interrupted only by the occasional call of a bird or the breaking of a particularly large wave against the rocky shoreline.  It was easily as beautiful as in his photographs- perhaps even more so after so many years living in darkness- a darkness that, at many points, heâd thought might never end.  But it had and the sunlight had returned, just as Ignis had promised him.  Not that life had got much easier since.  It wasnât as though things could just return to the way they had been.  The life heâd known was a thing of the past, and building a new life- one in which the people he loved the most were either gone or changed beyond recognition- at some points felt impossible.  In fact, heâd often found himself wondering if it had all been worth such a sacrifice, if it wouldnât have been better to struggle through the darkness with his best friend by his side rather than try to live without him. Â
But he was trying. Â There was no point thinking about the past, wishing he could turn back time and change the way things had turned out. Â This was his life now, and he owed it to Noct to make the most of it. Â He owed it to him to be happy. Â
So heâd made the decision to come here, just as heâd promised himself all those years ago. Â Back then heâd been awed by the softness of the sand underneath his feet, by the way the shore faded out into a vivid liquid gold, by the flaring hues of the evening sun as it melted gradually into the ocean, turquoise becoming apricot as the last rays of light slowly shimmered and vanished. Â Heâd wanted to stay longer, to explore and take photos to his heartâs content. Â But theyâd had more important things to do then, and then things had changed, and then the memories of Noct had made him want to hide away from everywhere theyâd ever visited together. Â It had been too painful to even think of visiting alone, the space beside him which should have been filled with his best friendâs laughter vacant and silent. Â
He was glad heâd eventually plucked up the courage to ask Ignis to come with him, and was even more glad at how quickly and enthusiastically heâd agreed. Â He wasnât sure he would have been able to cope here without him. Â For the first few days, every little thing had reminded him of Noct, the memories heâd tried to suppress for so long playing on repeat like an old video tape, rediscovered after many years of being lost at the back of a drawer. Â If heâd been on his own, he would have packed up and left, returning to the safety of Insomnia where he could bury himself in his work and forget Noct ever existed. Â But Ignis was here, a hand to hold and a shoulder to cry on when things got unbearable. Â Whenever heâd thought he might finally break down and not be able to get back up again, Ignis was by his side, stroking his hair and whispering soothingly in his ear until he felt strong enough to continue. Â And, after a while, the numbness faded into something else. Â Not happiness exactly, but something close. Â A weight had been lifted, like colour was finally seeping back into a world that had become so dull and dreary heâd forgotten what it felt like to smile.
They sat close to the lapping waves, Promptoâs legs curled underneath him, his feet dusted with so much golden sand it was hard to tell where his freckles stopped and the sand began. Â It was early, the only marker of time the position of the sun in the sky, peeking just above the horizon, and he shivered against the breeze of the cool, morning air as it drifted in from the ocean. Â Somehow, and Prompto could never quite work out how he managed to be so perceptive even without his vision, Ignis detected the slight shudder and moved closer to him so their legs were touching, the heat from his body almost enough to stop the spread of goosebumps as they spread up Promptoâs bare arms and across his shoulders. Â
âCold?â Â Ignis looked over at him, his lips twitching into the beginnings of a smile as he awaited Promptoâs response.
âA little,â Prompto replied, brushing his hair back from his face and rubbing at his arms vigorously to warm them. Â âShould have known better to think itâd be warm enough to come out without a jacket this early in the morning.â Â
âIndeedâŚâ Ignis smirked and Prompto chuckled softly between shivers.  It had been a while since heâd feel good enough to laugh and it sounded strange and unfamiliar, and for a moment he thought it must have come from somewhere else- anywhere other than his own lips.
âItâs good to hear you laugh again, Prompto.â Â Ignis pulled himself across the sand to wrap one arm around Promptoâs back, his sand-covered palm rough against the tender, slightly sunburnt skin of his shoulder. Â âI must say, Iâve been rather worried about you for a while now.â
âSorry, Iggy.â  Prompto hesitated before resting his head on Ignis chest, tucking it just underneath his chin.  âI⌠uh⌠Itâs been tough.â Â
âI knowâŚâ
Ignis reached up to stroke his hair, running his hands through it softly as he eased out some of the knots, a result of the combination of sea, sand and wind, brushing it tenderly back from his face.  His hair was shorter now than it had been and peppered with strands of grey, which blended with the blonde so it became almost white in places.  Some days he felt like he looked much older than his 37 years, the dark circles underneath his eyes making him look constantly unwell.  He knew heâd lost weight- though he hadnât made a conscious effort to do so- and a lot of the muscle heâd worked so hard to gain had disappeared.  The way Gladio looked at him sometimes, the concern in his eyes evident no matter how much he tried to hide it- was enough to tell him people were worried about him.  But this trip was helping, and heâd already noticed how much healthier he looked.  His eyes were less swollen- the sea air was doing wonders for his sleep- and the red rims he tried so hard to get rid of were already far less noticeable.  The sun was having a positive effect too and his skin had begun to tan again, his freckles returning with a vengeance as they danced across his nose and cheeks, dusting his shoulders in the same way they had when he was younger. Â
Ignis, on the other hand, had aged spectacularly well. Â His hair, too, had become grey- but it suited him and, strangely, hadnât seemed to age him at all. Â His skin was still as smooth as it had always been, and glowed now more than ever against the early morning sunlight. Â Prompto pressed his face more firmly against Ignisâ chest and sighed deeply, closing his eyes and relaxing into his touch. Â It felt good to be touched so tenderly again, even if heâd never expected Ignis to be the one touching him in such a way. Â
âThanks for being here,â he mumbled, lifting up his head and dragging himself into a seated position, his toes comfortingly covered by the now-warm sand. Â He placed his hand on Ignisâ thigh and squeezed gently, hoping the motion conveyed how grateful he was.
He was surprised when Ignis placed his palm on top of his, lacing their fingers together tightly, ignoring the grains of sand which snuck their way in between their hands. Â âI know I canât ever be him, my dear Prompto- and I would never try to take his place- but I will always be here for you. Â I hope Iâve made it clear how much you mean to me. Â How much I care about you.â Â
âYou mean a lot to me too, Iggy.  You really do.â  Prompto felt tears prick at the corners of his eyes, a lump forming in his throat as he tried to push them back down.  He turned his hand over and gripped Ignisâ more tightly, his fingers running over rough knuckles in soft, delicate movements.  Heâd tried to deny his feelings for so long, guilt always lingering somewhere at the back of his mind.  He couldnât help but think that beginning another relationship, even thinking these things about someone other than Noct, was some sort of betrayal.  But knowing that Ignis felt the same, that he cared for him- maybe even loved him- was the push he needed.  Noct was dead.  He wasnât coming back.  And there was no way he would want him to be alone forever.  He cleared his throat, running his other hand distractedly through the sand as he thought about what to say.  âI canât⌠I mean, I want this too⌠Itâs just⌠Iâm not sure I can put it into words right now butâŚâ
âHush my darling.â Â Ignis cut him off, his hand tracing a line softly down the side of his face and over his ear before pausing to cup his chin, tilting his head up so he was forced to look at him. Â âYou donât need to say anything. Â Thereâs no rush. Â Iâm not going anywhere.â Â He pressed his lips to the top of Promptoâs head, placing a soft but firm kiss among the soft bristles. Â
âThank you,â he breathed, resting his head against Ignisâ shoulder. Â He pulled his knees up to his chest and stared across at the horizon, sighing deeply as he took in- for the first time that morning- the changing colours that spread like watercolours across the sea and sky, slightly hazy and dusty as though he was looking through a smudged window. Â âI wish you could see this, Iggy. Â Itâs so beautiful.â
âSo help me see it. Â Describe it to me.â
âUh⌠Okay⌠SoâŚâ  Prompto sat up a little straighter and stared ahead.  âItâs⌠the sunâs just rising above the horizon.  The clouds are kind of pink now and itâs reflected in the water soâŚâ
âNo,â Ignis murmured softly, taking Promptoâs hand again and clasping it in his own. Â âMore than that. Â Look closely. Â I want to really imagine it, to really see what you see. Â Tell me everything, every little detail. Â Be my eyes, my dear Prompto.â
Prompto paused and took a deep breath.  âItâs perfect, Iggy.  The sky⌠itâs like⌠like a sea of cotton candy.  Itâs kind of cloudy today, but they look soft and fluffy, like you could just reach out and run your hands through them, like the featherâs in a chocoboâs tail.  And the sunâs like a flower, each petal a different colour, opening up and spreading across the sky one at a time.â  He shot a glance at Ignis, who had his head tilted back so he faced the sky, his eyes closed and an expression of peacefulness etched across his face.  He was smiling, his cheeks flushed pink as he recalled his own memories.  âClosest to the sun, itâs like the sky is blushing- the same pink Noctâs cheeks used to go when he was embarrassed.  But further out, itâs more orange, like those tangerines you found in Lestallum market that time- the really sweet ones, you remember?â  Ignis nodded, the movement of his head so small that, had Prompto not been looking for it, he would have missed it entirely.  âItâs misty too- itâs like a layer of silver spider web covering the surface of the sea, but itâs sparkling as it catches the sunlight, as though itâs covered in ice or snow.  And all the colours are reflected in the water, but itâs like someoneâs spread paint on a piece of paper and then poured water over it so it all merges together- so the colours are all there but you kind of canât tell them apart.  The light keeps dancing across the waves too, like there are diamonds just underneath the surface that rise above it when a wave comesâŚâ
âIt sounds wonderful.â Â Ignis sighed, his eyes still closed behind his dark lenses.
âIt is.â  Prompto bit his bottom lip, reaching up to run his hand over the outer edge of Ignisâ scar, rough and raised against the soft skin around it.  âI just wish⌠I wish you could experience it too.â
âI feel sure I was able to experience just as much as you.  Your descriptions⌠you see so much beauty in things, so many details Iâm not sure anybody else would even notice.  You helped me experience more than I would have been able to see with my own eyes- and I thank you for that.â  Ignis smiled again before reaching up to pull Promptoâs hand away from where it still lingered on his cheek, dropping a quick kiss in the centre of his palm before placing it back down into the sand.  âThank you for helping me see againâŚâ
âYouâre welcome, Iggy,â Prompto smiled, leaning forwards and letting his lips brush against the corner of Ignisâ mouth. Â
Yes, things had changed- and maybe his life hadnât quite turned out the way heâd expected it to. Â But, thanks to Noct, he had his whole life ahead of him and he was determined not to waste it. Â The best way to honour Noctâs memory was to be happy and, with Ignis by his side, perhaps that wouldnât be so difficult after all.
Based on AO3, it seems like you're fond of HighSpecs, CrowNea (AraCrowe?), and IgNyx. What's a word (or maybe two?) that you would use to describe each pair? :)
Okay this was a SUPER FUN ASK to think about. Thank you! I cheated, because I gave you a word or two for each but then explained copiously. :)
IgNyx: Disarmed. This applies to both of them. Ignis gets to set aside his starched Citadel persona and be someone else for a while, and he really appreciates that Nyx can see other sides of him. Iâm currently writing/imagining them with the full age gap, which is significant at ten years. Nyx, while much older and more experienced, is a bit disarmed as well - Ignis manages to get beyond the funloving good time guy and touch a few real emotions, and that surprises Nyx, I think. Aracrowe: First Love. Once I figured out that Crowe and Aranea were just a few years apart in age, I went with a military school backstory fill/AU and they have become my sweet, fluffy, often bumbling young college couple. They are alike enough that I really enjoy drawing out their differences, if that makes sense. Highspecs: Deep. Thereâs a lot that goes unsaid with these two, and a strong current of mutual respect and fascination. Theyâre both smart and competent and often dismissive of those around them, so thereâs an air of competition too. At least in the vaguely canon-consistent land, they connect at a time and in circumstances where they are both focused on other things, so their shared independence is important as well.
Again, thank you so much for this fun ask. <3 <3 <3

My submission is already on queue (yep, I'm that excited), but it has elements of both Day 1 (braids) and Day 2 (little sisters), so I'm not sure when to post. Maybe I can post on Day 1 and then re-blog for Day 2? Let me know if that's okay. :)
AHHH Iâm excited youâre excited, and to see what you created!
You can definitely post it on day 1 and reblog it on day 2 on your blog, but your work will only be reblogged on this blog once (most likely on day 1) to be fair to others. Hope that clears it up!
For the tarot asks, how about Gladnis and the star? If you haven't been asked it yet. Thank you so much ali. âĄ
Hello, my dear. Thanks for your patienceâI hope you enjoy some SFW Gladnis for The Star below.
âThereâs the Archaean!â
Gladioâs enthusiastic declaration breaks the silence and startles Ignis. Â He blinks a few times, squeezes his eyes shut, and shifts on the blanket to examine the sky above Gladioâs pointed finger.
âI donât believe I see it.â
The amused smirk Gladio levels in Ignisâs direction serves two purposes: it irritates him, because Gladio clearly believes heâs won their stargazing content, and it excites him, because the warm, triumphant, affectionate expression makes Ignis feel invincible when itâs directed at him.
âIâm pointinâ right at it,â Gladio repeats.
Ignis removes his glasses, cleans them on the untucked tails of his dress shirt, and settles them back on his face. Â After several long moments, he spots it: three bright stars that make up Titanâs âshoulderâ, the rest of the pieces of the constellation falling into place as Ignis studies the sky.
âI suppose that makes us tied, three to three,â Ignis admits. He doesnât enjoy losing, but if thereâs anyone heâll lose to, itâs Gladio.
âShould be a couple more we havenât found yet.â Gladio angles his body towards Ignis, clad only in a tanktop and shorts to combat the humid summer air, the black lines of his tattoo blending into the darkness of the night. âCould make the last one a tiebreaker.â
The way he leans close to Ignis, his mouth a palmâs distance away from Ignisâs own, has his thoughts drifting to other, less wholesome activities. However, at the same timeâŚ
Winning would be rather nice.
âDeal,â Ignis agrees with a smirk, and then heâs combing the heavens for the means to secure his victory.
It takes only a handful of minutes for him to locate one of the final constellations, sitting bolt upright in his excitement, but as he shouts the name, Gladio speaks as well.
âGentiana!â
âShiva!â
Ignis locks eyes with Gladio, pulse quickening, and purses his lips. âGentiana?â He glances up once and returns his attention to Gladio. âPerhaps you need to consider glasses too. Thatâs clearly the Glacian.â
Gladio laughs, the sound deep and rich. âNah. Iâm sure. Shiva wouldnât be visible this time of year, but the Messenger constellations are.â Â At Ignisâs stark look of disbelief, he grins widens and gestures to Ignisâs slacks. âYou brought your phone, right? See for yourself.â
Determined to win, Ignis pulls his phone out and searches the internet with several rapid, focused taps of his fingers.  When he finds the confirmation heâs looking for, he reads the information twice⌠and then begins to laugh too.
âWhatâs so funny?â Gladio demands, scooting closer and resting his head on Ignisâs shoulder.
âIt appears neither of us are technically correct,â Ignis explains, angling the screen towards Gladio so he can read for himself. âItâs not Shiva⌠but itâs not Gentiana, either. Apparently the Gentiana constellation was renamed to âThe Oracle Messengerâ late last year.â
âWhat? Bullshit,â Gladio declares with a snort, taking the phone from Ignis and scrolling through the website.  He manages to only appear slightly crestfallen as he returns the phone to Ignis. âHuh. Well⌠ainât gonna argue with the Lucian Society of Astronomyâs website, I guess.â
The way Gladioâs lower lip juts out in a pout gives Ignis a host of other ideas. âMay I suggest a different way to break the tie?â
âSure, Iggy,â Gladio says amiably, one broad palm coming to rest on Ignisâs thigh. âWhatâd you have in mind?â
Ignis threads his fingers through Gladioâs hair and gently pulls him close, until their lips are almost touching. He suddenly doesnât care overmuch about victory in their impromptu competition, finding himself far more fascinated with the way starlight glitters in the wide amber pools of Gladioâs eyes.
âYouâre a smart man, Gladiolus,â Ignis murmurs, lips curving upwards where they brush against Gladioâs. âGuess.â Â

Nyx fidgeted with his mug, spinning it around on the table top idly as he gazed out the window. Every so often heâd draw his hands away and let it clatter to a stop, the noise jarring in the silence of the shop.
He loved coming here this time of day. At 9am, the commuter crush had passed, and the late risers hadnât yet made it out of their beds. Nyx practically had the place to himself, which he loved. Not that he wasnât a people person - his career demanded that he be âonâ when he was at work, or recognized during his off hours. But these nearly silent moments with nothing for company but the brew in his cup were what enabled him to channel that energetic high night after night.
