I tried watching Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, getting through Leo's and Brad's scenes, but my resolve started crumbling when Margot Robbie's bare feet were displayed in a movie theater for waaaaay too long. I thought, "okay, Tarantino needs to get his mandatory foot fetish scene out of the way. Fine. It's done, let's move on." But a few minutes later, there Margaret Qualley is pressing her bare feet against windshield of a car (talking about giving Brad Pitt's character a bj which had me like 🤢 because of the age difference). So again, I'm like, "god fucking damn it, Tarantino and his fucking foot fetish!!! Two scenes is more than enough! I'm so close to just giving up..."

You know, I've been rewatching seasons 1 and 2 of yellowjackets to write my fic, and it's the best thing I could do while season 3 is airing because it just places in the forefront of my mind how FULLY TRAUMATIZED Shauna is.
With time between seasons, and maybe after consuming media of the actresses being so nice, it might be difficult to remember exactly how dark and twisted the characters are/are becoming.
During the last episode (3x05) I legit wanted to punch Van in the face, because what a vile thing she did to Taissa, using sex (which they have cherished so far between them in the show) to "summon" the "other Tai" just so she could kill Ben.
And I'm not saying people can't enjoy that scene for what it showed, but it's also hard to notice so many people ignoring the context behind it.
Anyway... Yellowjackets isn't a show about heroines overcoming all hurdles while clutching to their morals and values; Yellowjackets is about how fucking low we're willing to go to survive and that trauma---when unchecked and not treated---will manifest in ways you may not expect (even years down the line). So yeah, Shauna is horrible and I have a feeling she will get even worse, but that's the path she was always meant to be on on the show. If you don't like it, I bet there are many fics out there that tell a different story.
On my work break and thinking about how much I love Shauna as a character.
She's so fucking complex (as are all the others on the show), and the slight disconnect between teen and adult Shauna is so intriguing to me.
Because, like, what happened as soon as they got back to the "real world" to shock her and push her back into Little Miss Normal box? What did she (and all the others) have to do during those first few years to deal with the guilt and the pure rage at all the fakeness surrounding them?
Fuck, I love this show! And I love Shauna!
Idk if anyone noticed this, but when I watched Mean Girls in the movie theater, I felt like Regina made a slightly disappointed face when Cady made the comment about Damian being almost too gay to function. But then Karen and Gretchen laughed, so she was like, "no, that was funny, you should write it down." And that broke my heart a little bit.
If that was really the case, I applaud Reneé Rapp for her subtle acting. If that's just my interpretation, well, I'm sticking to it.
I might have downloaded a cam version of the movie just to help me write my fic and I stand by my first impression of that scene.
