Director Aya Kyogoku has admitted that upcoming Animal Crossing spin offs Happy Home Designer and Amiibo Festival were designed simply so amiibo figures would be made for the series. 

Nintendo representative Hiromasa Shikata spoke about the absence of female characters with IGN recently, citing plot reasons as explanation.

“The story calls for this sort of legend/prophecy where heroes will come together to help solve a problem. And in that, they are male characters. So, because the game is set with that as the story background, you cannot choose a gender; you are a male character.”

Nintendo has made good strides towards equality in games, but it seems the company missed the mark on this one. 

The third title in the challenging text-based puzzle series Zero Escape has been given a vague Summer 2016 release date. It follows previous titles 999: 9 Persons, 9 Hours, 9 Doors and Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward. 

The series revolves around a group of strangers wearing explosive, game-based watch detonators and the newest title will likely follow a similar concept. Check out the announcement and trailer below:

A special limited edition Dragonite will be available from GameStop between June 22nd and July 12th. The Dragonite will already know the moves Dragon Dance, Extreme Speed, Outrage, and Hurricane so it’s bound to be a great addition to your team. 

Dragonite will be holding a Lum Berry to cure itself from Paralysis.
