Accidents Happen Radio Drama
INT. SCENE 1 (1820 Morris Mansion)
1. SFX Loud Foreboding Alpenhorn
2. Keca: Father, please sit down. You’re running yourself into the ground.
3. Peter: In a minute, I need to make sure all the preparations are ready. Tyler, have my daughter and her fiancée arrived?
5. Keca: I still can’t believe Linda, my sister is getting married tomorrow. I’m so happy for her!
6. Peter: As am I. (saddened) But, it is a shame that I am losing another one of my girls.
7. Keca (to Peter): You haven’t lost me and you aren’t losing Linda. Father, see it as gaining another son.
9. Peter (In a stern tone): It’s Mr. Morris to you.
11. Tyler: I’ll answer the door. (Opens door)
12. Linda: Hello Tyler! Father, Keca! I’m here!
13. Keca: Linda you’re here! (Hugs Linda)
14. Peter: There’s my little girl! (Embraces Linda) How have you been?
15. Linda: Just wonderful Daddy! Oh, I would like you all to meet my fiancée: Brian Sanders. Brian, this is my father: Peter, my sister: Keca and her husband: Tyler.
16. Peter (Shakes Brian’s hand): It’s a pleasure to meet you, Brian.
17. Brian: Likewise, sir. (Turns to Linda) Dear, you never mentioned having a sister. Especially, one so lovely.
18. Keca (Uncomfortable): Thank you, Mr. Sanders. But my sister is much prettier than I.
19. Tyler (Whispers flirtatiously to Keca): I disagree.
20. Peter: Why don’t we sit down and get to know one another. Unfortunately, I will not be joining you. I have some paper work I have to finish before tomorrow. (Walks out)
21. Keca: Linda, Brian how did you two meet?
22. Brian: My mother hosted a garden party to celebrate my sister: Ariella’s sixteen birthday. Linda was one of the first girls to arrive, she was smart and kind-hearted. I asked Linda’s permission to court her and she accepted. After a few outings together, I asked for her hand in marriage.
23. Keca: How, sweet. I’m going to make us some tea in kitchen.
24. Linda: I’ll help you.
25. SFX Footsteps Sound Effect
26. Tyler: So, uh what do you do for a living?
27. Brian: I work for my father, he owns a business that trades overseas. He expects me to take over soon and increase the family fortune.
28. Tyler: That sounds great, I have recently taken over my family business as well.
29. Brian: Interesting, is your family business involve education, scientific studies or politics?
30. Tyler: Um…It’s more entertainment. My family owns a circus.
31. Brian: (Laughs) Oh, you’re serious! So sorry! Um…then... how did you meet Linda’s sister?
32. Tyler: Funny story, I met Keca by accident. It was my first time working outside of the performance tent and my uncle who originally worked the cotton candy booth gave me no instructions. Keca was my first customer when the circus opened to the public. I struggled, but eventually made the cotton candy for her. At the same time, my shoe lace became undone and as I went to give Keca the candy, I tripped smashing the cotton candy onto her dress. Long story short, I apologized, took her out on a few dates then asked her to marry me.
33. Brian: What a story! You are lucky to have such a beautiful woman on your arm.
34. Tyler: But you do. Linda is beautiful don’t you think?”
35. Brian: Don’t get me wrong Tyler. Linda has some good qualities, but looks are not one. Now Keca, so stunning! It is astonishing that Linda is the favored daughter. With her blessed beauty, a woman like Keca could conquer high society. A woman like that is one I would do anything to have at my side.
36. Tyler (angry): What are you saying that if Keca wasn’t married to me, you would have courted her instead?
37. Brian (nonchalant): Of course.
38. Tyler: You beetle-headed lout! How dare you! (Punches Brian)
39. Brian: (Falls to Floor)

42. Brian: I’m… a-alright love just a bruise.
43. Linda (Turning to Tyler): Why did you hit him?
45. Keca: Linda take Mr. Sanders to the guest room. I will handle this.
46. Linda (sighs): Alright.
48. Keca (To Tyler): Start explaining.

INT. SCENE 2 (Morris Mansion- Dining Area)
50. Keca: That flea-bitten hound! How dare he call my sister unattractive! I must inform Linda at once!
51. Tyler (Stops Keca): Love that is not a good idea.
52. Keca: Would rather allow her to marry a man that cares nothing for her?
53. Tyler: Keca, Linda won’t believe you! If you confront her, she will assume you are jealous and are there to ruin her wedding!
54. Keca: I am her sister. Flesh and blood. She must believe me!
55. Tyler: She has known Sanders for a long time Keca. On top of it, they are marrying tomorrow afternoon. Linda will believe Sanders as it is our word against his.
56. Keca: What should do now?
57. Tyler: I suggest telling Dad, maybe he can make Linda understand the situation.
58. Keca: Good idea and thank you for defending my sister’s honor.
59. Tyler: Anytime, love.

INT. SCENE 3 (Morris Mansion- Banquet Hall)
61. SFX Loud Foreboding Alpenhorn
62. Peter: Tyler, Keca. Thank you for informing of this unfortunate circumstance. To find out a man like Sanders could be so vial. It’s sickening!
63. Keca: Father, are you sure you don’t want me to tell Linda.
64. Peter: No, sweetheart. I can do it, just do as Tyler says. He has your best interest at heart.
65. Tyler: Sir, about the guests arriving soon-.
66. Peter: No need to worry about the guests. I took care of everything.
67. Keca: Thank you, Father. (Kisses Peter)
68. Peter: You’re welcome, dear. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to tell the chefs what to do with the almost prepared wedding feast.
70. Keca: Do you think we are doing the right thing. Canceling the wedding before telling the bride why.
71. Tyler: Love, it’s for the best. Besides, once Linda finds out the truth she will want the wedding canceled. We are doing her a favor.
72. Keca: If you say so, it’s just I want my sister to be happy and Sanders makes her happy. But, this is for her own good.
75. SFX Running Footsteps
76. Tyler: Keca, look it’s Sanders!
80. Peter: What has happened, I heard someone scream?
81. Tyler: Sanders is dead.
82. Peter: Linda. Where is my Linda?!
83. Keca (looking around): She’s not here, her dress is, but it’s covered in (gasp) blood!
84. Peter: Tyler,call the authorities to remove the body. I will comfort, Keca.
85. Keca: No! We need to find Linda! (To Peter) Father, please let Tyler and I investigate.
86. Peter: Alright, you may investigate. I will have the maids take the body to the funeral parlor. But, heed my words dear. If it gets too hard don’t be afraid to give up.
88. Keca (whispers): I won’t. (To Tyler) Honey, let’s look at the body before it’s taken.
89. Tyler: There are red marks around his neck.
90. Keca: His tie is missing, where is it?
91. Tyler: Not here, why does it matter?
92. Keca: The markings show a struggle from something being wrapped around the neck. But, these markings are deeper. I have seen this once when mother use to do father’s tie. If she did it too hard these marks appeared.
93. Tyler (excited): Then, whoever murdered Sanders has the tie!
94. Keca: And maybe knows where Linda is. Tyler, do you think she’s alive?
95. Tyler: Of course I do, now let’s look at the wedding dress.
96. Keca: I don’t know if I am able. You know I can’t handle blood.
97. Tyler: Then, I will handle it and tell you what I find. Go get some water.
102. Keca: Hopefully this helps. Wait, what are these on the floor dirty footprints? (Looks around the room) They are fresh.
104. Tyler: Keca! I gathered a sample from the dress! It’s not blood, but red wine!
105. Keca: Good work, Tyler. Look, there are dirty footprints in the kitchen leading from Linda’s room to here. They are fresh, so the person who murdered Sanders was here recently. Unfortunately, there are no more prints as we walk out of the kitchen.
106. Tyler: That means the person came in for a moment. (To Keca) Hon, we have evidence on what happen to Sanders, but we need suspects.
107. Keca: Tyler, the only suspects are Father and Linda. (Angry) They are both innocent!
108. Tyler: Dear, Linda and Dad were the only ones nearby during the time Sanders was murdered. In addition, Linda is still missing. If she was the murderer, her guilt would lead her to run away.
109. Keca: Don’t speculate! (Groans) I’m going to look for more evidence.
111. Tyler: Or it could be us, but we were downstairs talking. Or were we?
112. Keca: Tyler! Come quick!
113. SFX Running Footsteps
114. Tyler: Keca! What happened!
115. Keca: I went outside to get some fresh air, when I found this. These are Linda’s shoes, Father had given to her as an early wedding present and they are covered in dirt. (Cries) Oh, Tyler!
116. Tyler: Its ok, Keca. Come let’s get Peter and show him our evidence. I believe he said there is nothing wrong with giving up.
117. Keca (To herself): Father did say that didn’t he? (To Tyler) Tell Father to meet us in his office.

INT. SCENE 4 (Peter Morris’s Office)

120. Peter: So how is the investigation going?
121. Tyler: We are done actually and some evidence points to Linda being the murderer.
122. Peter: Well, if Linda is guilty, then we have no choice. The authorities must be called and Linda must be found. Since she committed first degree murder, Linda will be in jail for a few years.
123. Keca: We were not done talking, Father. Yes, some of the evidence points to Linda, but it doesn’t mean she murdered Sanders. The only way Linda would kill Sanders is out of anger from learning he never really wanted to marry her. But, she didn’t get the chance to find out and yet Linda is missing. Care to explain, Father?
124. Peter: What you saying, Keca?
125. Keca: You were supposed to tell Linda about Sanders and somehow he ends up dead. The evidence, first the dead body of Sanders was strangled by his own tie. There was red wine spilled on Linda’s dress, dirty footprints in the kitchen and Linda’s shoes that I found outside. Linda doesn’t drink red wine and if Linda did, it would not be, while she is wearing white. The person I know who loves red wine is you, Father.
126. Peter: You’re basing this off of speculation!
127. Tyler: Not speculation, but observation. I noticed your knuckles are red, how is that possible?
128. Peter: I did a lot of heavy lifting for the wedding!
129. Keca: You mean the one that you canceled? If I remember correctly Father you informed the guests not to come. And I believe it was so no one would be a witness to your deeds! You murdered Sanders and framed your own daughter in order to cover your tracks!
130. Peter (Laughs): That is ridiculous, you two! Why would I murder Sanders?
131. Tyler: For two simple reasons. First, Linda was getting married and you couldn’t stand another one of your girls being taken away from you. Second, you were furious after we told you the harsh truth about Sanders and believed he wasn’t fit to marry your Linda. I see how it happened, you went upstairs to tell Linda about Sanders. But, instead of finding her you found Sanders and strangled him to death.
132. Keca: Linda screamed once she saw the body, making you spill the red wine on the dress. You knocked Linda unconscious, while you took her shoes to frame her. And I assume my sister is locked inside her closet at this very moment.
134. Peter: You two are smart, I will give you that. Yes, I did do it. What else would a father have done, I devoted my entire life to protecting you and Linda. If protecting you meant committing murder then so be it!
136. Tyler (toward the door): He’s all yours officers.
138. Peter: You set me up!
139. Keca: Yes we did. You see after thinking over the words you said, it was plain to see that you wanted me to give up. I wondered why, until Tyler and I heard pounding from upstairs and found Linda in the closet. She explained everything that happened, while Tyler called the police. They hid outside the door as we confronted you.
140. Peter: I will get you two for this!
141. Tyler: I doubt it, Dad. With your crime, you’re facing at least four years.
