Today, on our Quinceañera, Sister Kali Vagilistic X.P. Alidocious shares ruminations on Radical Queerness: "In the early days of the formation of the San Diego Sisters, I often found myself off running (out of town) to radical faery gatherings and such. Becoming a Sister, I saw a need to nurture a 'Radical Queer' presence within the San Diego community. It was 2005, and there wasn't much in the way of Radical Queerness within the larger LGBTQ+ community, much less the over culture. Gender Queer, Gender F**k (from my '80's punk days) and Radical Queer spirituality became a mash up (of sorts) as I became a Sister of Perpetual Indulgence. It warms my heart to see the growth in Radical Queerness within not only the San Diego communities, but in communities all over. The Sisters bring a unique presence to such possibilities in that our message of 'it is okay for you to be you' opens the door for self acceptance and self expression. Maybe someone will look at us and think, 'Well, at least I am not as crazy or outrageous as those folks, so I feel safe enough to express myself fully, more authentically." @tommiestarchild #radicalfaeries #radicalqueerness #genderfuck #sistersofperpetualindulgence #sisterkali #sandiego #Quinceañera (at San Diego, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CSfv8PQrnU_/?utm_medium=tumblr
