the gal to be an Anglo and write a trashy Cassandra x "Alpha" Apollo erotica "retelling" for profit, and give Cassandra a Greek surname that in English translates back to Pussy (as in... "pussy cat", but the cringe is too much if one thinks this might have a double meaning). Next up we'll have "Zeus Peos", "Aphodite Kolara", or "Ares Skylos" 😫
in Greek the surname Gataki is very funny. There are some rare Greeks with the surname Gataki but uuum let's say you don't want your dark sexy prophetess (or your average Greek protagonist) to have it. Especially since we sometimes use the "gataki" word for funny nsfw things (not that the author cares about anything Greek because New Olympus is somewhere in the US - of COURSE - and I have no idea why she has a Greek surname regardless. The universe is no alternate Greek, btw)
Stop making these authors New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling authors PLEASEE! As for the writers: stop riding the greek myth clout train when you could simply replace the greek names and no one would understand that this is a "retelling" or anything close to our cultural places, stories, and figures (they are not your personal OCs, hope this helps!)
I get there's creativity and inspiration, and that's fine but then there's.... this. We still respect these figures, yeah, so sorry if our culture ruins your smut experience bestie
I learned long ago that clothing can change a person's perspective, both the one I have of myself and that of others who look at me. It's a different kind of armor than Ares's soldiers wear but it serves much the same purpose', even if the weapons being sharpened by the upper crust in Olympus are words and ambition instead of guns and knives.
