Zombie Apocalypse au i guess? iâm not used to this
Word count: 1,240
Warnings: Death, Blood, swearing, drug use mentioned.
Notes:Â Hey so i have never actually written a fanfic before and im pretty crap at English but im'a gonna give it a go. I decided to write this while watching Raddersâ livestream. Also just a heads up that it gets a bit sad towards the end. Also i wrote this from Laurenâs pov.
Itâs been nine months since the outbreak and I canât lie, itâs not as bad as I thought it would be. The zombies are too dumb to get us and the whole countryâs gone to crap so weâre free to do what we want, the only thing that scares me anymore is the others. Mad, vicious and blood thirsty. Theyâll kill anything that moves, breaths or looks the slightest bit conscious. I guess they couldnât deal with it anymore, I just hope I donât turn out like that.
I rolled over in the bed and opened my eyes slowly, i rubbed them as i took in my surroundings. I glances around the room confused to as where i was. I looked out the window and suddenly remembered. Me and Dan set up camp in the least wrecked house we could find and barricaded the doors and windows with all the stable furniture we could find. I pulled on my jacket reluctantly, as it was quite warm in the house but looking out of the window i knew if i didnât i would regret it later. I opened the bedroom door and crept down the annoyingly creaky stairs, trying to not wake Dan, but as i opened the door to the remains of a living-room i saw Dan struggling to open a can of beans. The look on his face told me he was about to give up and throw the can at the wall, i covered my ever growing smirk, trying not to laugh and walked over to him. My unknown presence startled him as i tapped him on the shoulder, he jumped and dropped the can openers. I laughed, âGive âem here you idiotâ. I took the can opener and the beans and opened them within seconds. Dan looked at me wide eyed and mouth hanging open, âHowâŚâŚwhaâŚ..â I laughed again âItâs not hard!â He crossed his arms and huffed like a child.
We packed up our gear and headed out, we headed down the cracked path and down the long, endless road. It was getting late and we had been traveling all day, i look up at the sky and saw thousands of little specks of light. âLook at the stars!â i shouted to Dan, who was walking off daydreaming. He stood there, still with amazement âwowâ he whispered under his breath. We carried on the road, dreaming about the stars and the sky, joy leaping from our smiles. We finally halted as we came to a fork in the road. I pointed to the left âacross the bridge?â i asked, Dan nodded and walked ahead of me. We had made it to about half way across the bride when i heard a shout echoing from behind me, i turned to see where it came from. I could just make out an outline of a man waving his arms and dashing towards us. My heart stopped as i remembered that i couldnât trust anyone, was he like them? was he going to hurt us? Panicked thoughts flooded my mind as the man got closer. âNo, i cant just run away, he might need helpâ i thought. As the man got closer he slowed down and eventually stopped in front of us, he bent over, breathing heavily and coughing slightly. He looked straight into my eyes, i could see he was just as scared as i was, âDo you speak french?â he asked with a strong accent. I stared at Dan confused and he stared back and shrugged his shoulders, i turned back to the guy and replied âuh.. no sorry.â Instantly i saw the hope fade from the guys eyes, i felt bad for him. We all stood there awkwardly not talking until Dan coughed and said âsoâŚum..we should goâ I didnât want the leave the poor guy all alone but what else could i do, âoh..yeah okâ i replied hesitantly. I turned back to the guy which i had now nicknamed Frenchie in my head, âsorryâ me and Dan turned away and started walking off up the road. I could hear footsteps behind me and i knew it was Frenchie, i turned to dan, âHes following usâ he nodded. âI could get out my machete to scare him offâ he said with a mischievous smile on his face. âDan!â i scolded looking at him angrily. âIt was just a suggestion!â he laughed back. âWe cant just leave him all alone, he could get hurtâ i thought to myself. âlet him come with us, he could be helpfulâ i said turning back to Frenchie with a smile and inviting him to come walk next to us instead of shyly walking behind, he walked over smiling.
We had been walking all night but strangely we werenât tired. It was five in the morning now and the sun was just peering over the tops of the trees, casting a shadow onto the road in front of us. We had finally got of the main road as we neared a building, it was still just a shadow in the distance at the moment but you have to be hopeful when thereâs no hope left. As we got closer i could see the building was a gas station, my hope got stronger as i knew there would be some supplies left in there that we could take. I looked around as we got there, trying to find something that would help us in anyway, but as i turned around i saw one of them. He was dressed in blood stained clothes, he had a bow that he had crafted, drawn and pointed at me. âNO!â i shouted, i turned to run but as soon as i took a step forward i felt a sudden sharp pain in my side, he had got me. My mouth opened to say something but i couldnât. I fell to the cold, unforgiving, stone floor, blood spilling from my wound onto the ground, everywhere. Everything was muffled now, all i could hear was the shouts of others, could have been Dan, he always had screamed like a toddler. I remembered all the good times we had, like when we ate the strange sweets we found in his mums draw when we were only 16 and i could have sworn i had seen a deer fly away from me as if it were just a glitch in a game. And the time we sat on top of a caravan we had found and watched the stars. But now i felt cold and my vision was blurred, i tried to move but i felt to numb and tired. But then i heard something, a distant shout. âNOOO!â Frenchie screamed as he saw me sprawled out on the ground, my own blood pooling around me. He got out his gun and shot the killer square in the chest. I heard the body fall to the ground somewhere near me but that didnât matter any more. A tear crept its way down my cheek as i started to lose consciousness, not a tear of sadness, no, a tear of happiness as i watched my new friend, who was a complete stranger to me only hours ago, fall to his knees crying over me. I could hear him sobbing next to me, trying to save me. And finally i really understood what they meant when they said kindness goes a long way.
