In not the biggest news but kind of big news. I’ve decided to race a half marathon!
In respect to the transparency tuesday (although no it’s not tuesday) I have to be honest. This is is a scary scary thing for me. I’ve struggled since college and I’ve decided multiple times that there’s no way I could be more athletic post-NCAA athlete days. It’s negative and it’s sad because it is completely ME that put myself in this box. Last year, even when I had time to train, I was scared. I’m scared I’m not “athletic” anymore. I’m scared I’ll get hurt again. And then this year with school, sometimes a run can seem like the most daunting thing. Sometimes I just can’t do it because my graduate program is so demanding of my time and energy. Buttttt I’m started to get more excited about this idea.
Mostly because this week I ran the highest mileage week since this summer. And it was my Week 10 (my busiest week of the quarter where I had 2 practicals, 2 presentations, and a crap ton of stuff to finish up) but I did it and it felt good. I love running and I’m starting to see that I can be just athletic as I was back in the day if I just follow that instead of a ridiculous standard in my head.
