Valentine's Surprise | Jake & Rachel
Usually, Jake liked to blend in to the surroundings, especially ever since he'd joined the Army. He'd spent time as a commando in Afghanistan and then as a bodyguard privately, perfecting the technique of blending in without being noticed. However, that changed as he walked through the lobby of the apartment building, dressed in his Army service uniform. It was a far cry from his combat fatigues of the war, but the uniform still made him stand out. However, despite the uniform, Jake was well aware that the real reason he was attracting stares was because of the bottle of champagne he was holding under his arm, the vivid gold liquid contrasting with the dull brown of his dress uniform.
Jake left the stares behind as he got into the elevator and he pressed the button to the floor he wanted, ascending to high up in the building. Once the elevator stopped, Jake stepped out and walked the all too familiar path to where he was going. As he arrived at Rachel's door, he knocked twice before standing there, waiting for his now former boss to answer. It would be the first time he had seen her in weeks and truthfully, Jake had missed her dearly and hoped that today would mark the new beginning of their time together.
