Oh NOW Accuracy Matters
youtube comments
"The Odyssey is fictional so we can have Africans portraying Ancient Greeks" "Moana is a fictional story based on Polynesian culture so we must have accurate casting"
( seriously the hypocrisy of going oh you can imagine cyclops in odyssey but not black people ignoring that it takes place in ancient greece
then those same people going on accurate casting pisses me off
I would love to see their reactions t o someone making a moanna story with white people invovled as mc's
Whatever else you think about Nolan's Odyssey, it cannot be denied that the same people defending his "diverse" casting choices would go berserk if the Moana remake featured a Caucasian actor in a major role. This is not even a question. It is another example - a perfect one, really - that this manner of "diversity" does not mean & has never meant actual diversity, i.e. variety. It just means replacing White people.
The fact Moana used cultural consultants and a fully Polynesian cast and Hollywood bragged about it and required it for the film is a stark contrast to The Odyssey. There's zero Greek actors in leads, they say it "represents the world," and in doing so it's an intentional erasure of culture. Then they'll call you names for noticing they're doing it. It's intentional and it's about destroying western and white civilization.
Paul Tassi doesn't get it, and Asmongold is 100% correct here. Tassi is just purposefully misunderstanding the problem as just the "trans actor". The problem here is the total lack of any dissenting opinions on the movie. When there is this level of suspicious lockstep for a movie, it looks like manufactured opinion rather than something genuine. There are no movies where everyone universally likes them. The same can be said for any movie that gets universal hatred as well. The other obvious thing is that the critics are not ideologically diverse. They center on the left-wing side of the progressive agenda, and when the movie pushes those priors, they tend to move as a cult and universally praise it. If it goes against it, they universally hate it. This has happened dozens of times over the past decade, and we are just seeing the usual pattern manifesting itself once again. If the viewer scores across various social media after the movie release end up being significantly lower, it'll be another point of evidence that critics cannot be trusted.
My biggest issue with the movie is that the same people praising the Odyssey for its "diverse" cast would be screaming bloody murder for any non-European movie or character.
☏ - never going to attempt to look for eddsworld fanart again because why the hell is this fandom so racist?? i'm trying to find my glorious tomtord and all i see are these racebenders drawing tom darker than the night sky😢 i'm telling you it's not that hard to make an oc if you want a poc in eddsworld
☏ - another thing i've noticed is that it's literally only tom, they only racebend tom, what the fuck did he do to y'all😭😭
☏ - i've also noticed that a lot of eddsworld artists have "proship dni" in their bio but then ship tomtord #dotheyknow
edit:
☏ - for starters, tomtord can be a proship due to it being abusive in some interpretations, please do your research before sending me death threats in my asks🥺
☏ - plus, it doesn't matter what tomska said. "oh but he's ok with tom being drawn as black!"...that doesn't change the fact that you're only using that as an excuse to change the skin color of a white man, as tom is white in canon

Invincible is a really good example of "if you're going to change your characters to make them poc, you need to understand stereotypes associated with Black/Asian/etc characters," because in the original comic pretty much everyone is white and once you figure that out, you also figure out that no one bothered to take into account that they weren't anymore.

Christopher Nolan DOESN'T Believe This Casting Either And The Oscar Math Explains WHY!
the whole but helen of troy is a fictional character is a dumb argument it doesn't matter helen is a her ethnicity is rooted in the ancient Mediterranean world of the Mycenaean Greeks
they would complain about a fictional black person being racebent to be white but then they do this and no the but it makes the cast more diverse argument is dumb
it doesn't need to be diverse
it lacking diversity isn't bigotry
can someone pls explain why in some fanarts ppl just entirely change the races of characters?? if its stuff like homestuck or my little pony or anything where nothing like that is confirmed (or stuff like cosplay where u cant change ur skin color but its dumb to get mad over that) idgaf but in other cases i never understood why. i dont get mad if i see stuff like that just like confused bc what are we getting out of this?? ive seen the excuses of it being for representation or a headcanon but i feel changing existing characters isnt helping with representation, and headcanons r little things meant to add onto canon material not to change it entirely. i never understood why if people just want to add rep with headcanons why they cant do other stuff like thinking a character might be queer or disabled. yes having representation for all races is good im not trying to deny that but that isnt the ONLY type of representation needed out there
Similar from My Previous Inktober Challenge like What I Did with Beauty & the Beast, I Already Did for The Frog Prince a Long Time Ago and Decided to Revamp it Again Only Taking it to Another Different Culture Straight to Hawaii with a Polynesia Twist on the Brothers Grimm Fairytale.
Originally Going to Do Someone's Suggestion but Because that My Redo on Beauty and the Beast was the Only One Culturalbent, I Needed to Focus on More Culturalbent Takes on Fairytales as I Immediately Think That for Now On, I'm Just Gonna Do Halves on My Takes on Fairytales Rather if They're From the Same Country or Not.
Yes, That Guy Next to The King (or "Chief") is My Version of Iron Henry, The Frog Prince's Servant Whose Absent in Most Versions but I Suppose in This Polynesian Take His Name will be Renamed; "Iron Hau'oli". And if You're Wondering What Breed of Amphibian the Frog Prince's Supposed to be, I Made Him into a Coqui Frog.
Also, In Case if You're Wondering Why The Eyes are Meant to Look So Differently, Its Because I Took a Lot of Inspiration from Soyuzmultfilm (Most Likely Their Version on "Cinderella" & "The Snow Queen", Which I Love to Do Them Someday).
UPDATED: After Through Some Thinking, I Forgot to Include the Other Members of the Princess' Family (Her Mother, the Queen and Two Sisters). I Know that it's Stated That The Princess is the Young Among the "Several" but I Ain't No Way Budging It Out More than Three.
