Action! Drama! And Zeppelins! Bioshock Infinite’s TV spot in a nutshell.
Okay, there’s a bit more to Bioshock Infinite‘s TV spot. The new ad, which popped up on TV during The Walking Dead, gives potential players a glimpse into what things are like for the “Lamb of Columbia” and her new friend Booker DeWitt.
Like a lot of video game ads, this one starts out with the game’s protagonist about to make an attempt to rescue his female companion, Elizabeth. Now… before anyone gets upset about the whole damsel in distress thing, take a good look at Elizabeth. Yes. She’s in danger. And, yes. She’s in tears.
Of course she is. These people want her dead, and for good reason. They’re afraid of her.
Whether that fear is valid or not remains to be seen, but if this and previous trailers are any indication, Elizabeth has the potential to be pretty bad-ass.
Handy-men, mid-air stunts and ominous zeppelins.
Okay, so one of my favorite things about Bioshock Infinite‘s TV spot may be that I get to use the world “zeppelins” a couple of times. So, shoot me.
If 2K was hoping to catch the attention of the less “hard-core” gaming crowd with this TV spot, I think they may have done a reasonable job. The 60 second spot is a beautiful bit of eye-candy filled with non-stop action. The music they chose to go with the visuals adds to the feel perfectly — and some of you will be happy it’s not dubstep.
Interestingly, it seems that 2K took their time putting out the TV spot, as the game releases a week from Tuesday. However, the team has been pretty non-stop with their online marketing as they’ve released some great documentary style videos about the city of Columbia as well as some other action packed trailers.
In addition to that Steam has some pre-order goodness going on. People who preorder the game will recieve the first Bioshock on steam as well as some TF2 goodies. And, if they reach the final goal for pre-orders, everyone will receive a copy of XCom Enemy Unknown.
