GENERAL NOTES:Â Quinn gets into the last of Mason's drug stash and hallucinates Mason being with her. Â
Quinn sighed as she leaned against the tree. She was outside, a couple of blocks away from her apartment and school. She looked up at the night sky, smiling softly at what she was about to do. In her hand lied a blunt of weed with a hint of heroine in it. She promised herself that she'd never do this again..but she needed it. Her moods were all over the place. Besides, the heroin was in a small dosage, nothing was going to happen, right? She didn't know what would happen to her when she smoked it but she was hoping that since she was away from the school and her home, she wouldn't expose her drugged self to her classmates. After a while of being lost in her thoughts, she went for it and took a couple of hits, feeling a little fuzzy after a few minutes. Her eyes were immediately glazed over and she relaxed against the tree.
Quinn heard rustling around her but just felt so incredibly relaxed, she didn't bother moving. It wasn't until she felt Mason's familiar lips kiss her cheek that she actually jumped back a little with a startled look. After a while of trying to figure out how Mason was alive, she gave up and relaxed again. She shrugged. "I did. And then you died." She looked down and fiddled with her fingers.
Mason: Mason sighed and reached over, taking one of Quinn's hands in her own. "Do I look dead to you?" She asked, a goofy grin spread on her face. She really did miss Quinn, and no amount of anything could make up for the amount of regret that she had. She squeezed Quinn's hand gently, then shifted closer so she was right in front of her. "I never left, Q. I didn't leave you, the twins, Captain.."
Quinn squeezed the hand that grabbed her's. She shook her head with a solemn look on her face. "No..you don't." But furrowed her brows and smacked Mason's shoulder with an angry pout. "You left me! You just...you left me!" Tears sprung to her eyes and she shook them away. "You left me dammit!" She pulled her hands away and tucked them away in an angry arm cross.
Mason: Mason huffed and scooted closer, pulling the pouting blonde into her lap. She wrapped her arms around her pulled her close, resting her head on Quinn's shoulder. "I'm here now, aren't I?" She whispered, moving to gently stroke Quinn's back. She tried to comfort the girl, but she knew it wouldn't be much help.
Quinn felt a few more tears escape her eyes and tucked her head into the crook of where Mason's neck and shoulder met. She shook her head. "You're here...but you're not here." She cried, almost violently, against Mason, the sobbing intensifying as more feelings flooded towards her. She'd barricaded these emotions long ago but now, with Mason, they were all coming back with extreme fervor.
Mason: Mason just held her, letting her get her emotions out. She knew this was what Quinn needed, she needed to cry. She hadn't cried in a while, from what it seemed like, and Mason honestly felt like she was making it all worse. A part of her wanted to remind Quinn that she was there, she was always there, but she knew she couldn't. Because she wasn't. Not physically, not to the point where she could always be there. Things wouldn't be the same, and it was her fault. And she would never forgive herself. "I'm so sorry, Quinn... I'm sorry..."
Quinn sniffled after about what felt like ten minutes of crying. She picked her head up and looked at Mason. She sniffled again. "Don't be." She shook her head. "This is my fault. I shouldn't have started crying. I knew that if I started, I wouldn't stop." She wiped her eyes a bit too harshly, her eyes turning an extreme red.
Mason: Mason shook her head and cupped Quinn's cheek. "This is my fault, Q. If I hadn't of been stupid, if I hadn't of fought with you, if I had just listened to you... We wouldn't be here. It's my fault, okay?" She stated calmly, chewing on her lip. "And I understand if you're mad at me." She whispered the last part, looking down at her lap. She felt so horrible, and she knew she couldn't make it up to her this time.
Quinn sniffled softly again. She shook her head. "Can we just...not right now?" She wiped her eyes harshly with her sleeve again. "I don't want to spend my evening crying. And I'm not mad at you. Well..I kind of was. But more so because you left me. " She bit her lip for a bit and watched as Mason looked down solemnly. She took a chance and leaned forward, connecting their lips in a chaste kiss.
Mason: Mason sighed into the kiss and held Quinn close, breaking it for a moment to whisper against her lips. "I'm still here, Q.." She rejoined their lips softly and just kissed her back for a moment, forgetting how good it felt. She was full of regrets, but those were in the back of her mind as she slowly pulled back with a few last-minute pecks, and smiled at the girl.
Quinn smiled into Mason's kisses. It'd been so long since she'd felt those lips against her's, she was overwhelmed by a euphoric feeling. She could hardly contain the bright smile claiming her demeanor. "I've missed you so much." She moved to sit more in Mason's lap and put her arms around her neck, snuggling up to her.
Mason wrapped her arms around Quinn, just holding her close as she rubbed her back gently. "I missed you too, Quinn." She whispered softly in the blonde's ear, moving a hand to move through her hair. "Is it a bad time to say that I miss your pink hair? It looked really good on you." She joked, smiling shyly before she kissed the girl's forehead.
Quinn calmed significantly when Mason's fingers trailed her back. She leaned into the hand moving through her hair and shook her head with a shy smile. "You're ridiculous." She laughed lightly and looked down for a few moments. "I miss it too sometimes. But...I like keeping a wholesome look. At least for the twins." She kept her previously idle hands busy, her fingertips playing with the edges of Mason's hair.
Mason chuckled softly and looked at the girl. "You're right- I was supposed to be the badass parent." She joked, glancing around Quinn's face as if she were trying to memorize it. She really missed Quinn, her gentle touch, her perfect face. It wasn't until now that she really, really realized it. "How are you still so magnificently beautiful?"
Quinn scoffed and playfully smacked Mason's shoulder. "You ass! We both know I would have been the cool parent." She pouted slightly even though she knew that her words weren't true at all. They both knew that Mason and Santana would probably be the badass cool parents. But it didn't hurt for her to hope, right? Quinn's cheeks turned pink at Mason's compliment-- as if she'd never been called beautiful before. She hid her face against Mason's neck with the same shy smile as before. She didn't knwo what had gotten into her-- it felt like she was 14 and on her first date.
Mason only laughed again, moving to take Quinn's hands in her own and squeeze them gently. Her face fell for a moment as she thought about the fact that she wouldn't actually get to be the "cool parent", that the only other parent that would more than likely be in the twins' life was Santana. She chewed her lip and let go of one of Quinn's hands, using her now free hand to wrap around the blonde. "Aside from the inevitable, how've you been, Q?" She asked quietly, wanting to hear the girl speak some more.
Quinn laced their fingers together and shrugged. "Angry. Upset." Her face fell and she looked down. "I'm with Alice...but I don't know if I'm as happy as I was with you." She sighed, tucking a lose strand of hair behind her ear and continued to look down.
Mason looked up at the tree for a moment then back at Quinn. "Does she make you happy in the slightest?" She asked, kissing Quinn's cheek gently. She knew that she couldn't really do anything to help the blonde, but she could offer her the slightest bit of advice if anything.
Quinn shrugged again. "Not as happy as I am right now." She looked at the ground in shame at her own confession.
Mason sighed and ran her hand over Quinn's side. "I meant in general, Q. When I'm not here, does she make you happy?" She asked, moving to meet Quinn's eyes.
Quinn locked eyes with Mason for a second before looking away. How was she supposed to look her in the eye when she was dating someone else and still, very clearly in love with Mason? "She does when she isn't annoying me." She spoke quietly.
Mason cupped her cheek gently and looked down at her. "When does anyone not annoy you, though?" She asked, a smile coming on her face. "You need to start making yourself happy, Q."
Quinn leaned into Mason's soft touch. "I don't know how to make myself happy." She looked up at Mason and furrowed her brows. "Quit smiling at me like that.." She mumbled the rest. "It makes me feel like I'm inferior to you."
Mason licked her lips and sighed. "What about me makes you so happy?" She asked, ignoring the comment about Quinn being inferior. Quinn was always her equal, if not bigger than her.
Quinn thought about the question for a while. "You're perfect. You're perfect for me and to me. Everything you do makes me smile. Even if its stupid." She played with Mason's fingers. "I had a dream the other day that you put mistletoes all over our apartment. You didn't leave one inch of the ceiling clear." She smiled fondly at the dream.
Mason chuckled softly and looked down at their hands. Her heart clenched at the mention of the dream, and she chewed hard on her lip. "Quinn.. You really need to find something.. someone.. to make you happy. Because... Because I'm not always going to be here to keep you happy, okay?"
Quinn shook her head and tears began to gather in her eyes. "No, I don't want to think about you not being here." Quinn sniffled and took a strengthening deep breath, hoping it would help reign in her emotions. "You're staying. I don't care what you say-- you're staying. I'll get high every day just to see you. I'll do it."
Mason shook her head and gently pushed Quinn back to look at her. "You and I both know that that's not a good idea, Quinn. What about the kids? You don't want them to grow up thinking that you're always in a haze, do you?" She asked, her heart breaking about how upset Quinn was about this.
Quinn looked at Mason silently and shook her head after a minute of thinking about her children. "No..I don't want them to grow up that way." She sighed. "I don't want to let you go. It never really sunk in that you're really gone until a few weeks ago. And now..I'm always angry and upset."
Mason nodded carefully and pulled Quinn into a hug again. "I'm so sorry, Quinn... I'm so sorry." She whispered, clenching her eyes tightly. She hated how she made Quinn feel like this, and it was taking all she had to not cry.
Quinn squeezed her eyes shut and returned the hug, clinging to Mason as if her life depended on it. "Stop....just make me forget about this stuff." She knew that wasn't possible but seeing Mason again apparently wasn't possible so she remained a little hopeful.
Mason swallowed thickly as she rested her head on Quinn's shoulder. "I wish I could, Q.. I wish I could." She whispered, looking up at the sky. She would do anything to be back, to be able to be with Quinn forever, but she couldn't and it hurt really bad.
Quinn closed her eyes. "I love you so, so much." She nuzzled softly against Mason and relaxed against her.
Mason smiled sadly and just held Quinn there. "I love you too, Quinn."
