Quillis passed away peacefully on April 17, 2017. She was 3 1/2. We made the difficult decision to have her put down to avoid prolonging her suffering under WHS. It is a heartbreaking disease. We took her out one last time to her favorite grassy area so that she could play to her heart’s content before the end.

I want to thank everyone who has ever supported this blog. I started it as a way to spend more time with Quillis outside and it has really blossomed. She even reached 1000+ followers. You have no idea how much it helps my grieving to know that there are so many people who cared about her.

I will post what photos I have left when we are feeling better but right now it’s too hard. 

Hello, my sweet followers. I have some terrible news for you all. I was diagnosed with Wobbly Hedgehog Syndrome on March 30.

It is a neurodegenerative disease found in my species. Paralysis occurs starting from the hind legs and towards the front. My parents didn’t know this ran in my genetics since I was a rescue and my previous owner didn’t know anything about me. It has no cure.

It's official. Our hedgehog Quillis is terminal. She's been diagnosed with a neurodegenerative disease called WHS. Her hind legs are already paralyzed and the paralysis is progressive. It will continue until death.

I’m quite sad about the prospect of losing her, since she’s been my little companion throughout the harshness of the last 3 years in school. But I promised myself I wouldn’t cry until it’s time.
