Advice for Remy, Day 167. Find a comfy place in which to relax, or just hide away from the world. Paul is the master of finding somewhere comfy. He has many spots across the house and garden where, should the mood take him, he can circle then flop, relaxing like a pro. He has various spaces on the grass, a spot in the sun on the decking, the chair in the living room (again, in the sun), another sunny spot on our bedroom floor (there’s a theme developing here) and his favourite cushion on the sofa, where his curls up under his blanket next to us every single evening. It’s important to be able to have comfortable, safe and cosy spaces where you can feel truly at ease. Some people adopt the route well-trodden by Paul and prefer a spot in the sun - laying in the garden, in a favoured chair on a quiet allotment, or in a sunlounger on a Spanish beach. Personally I can’t think of anything worse, but that’s not the point. My comfy spots are much less sun-beaten and much more home-based. Sitting here at the dining room table, gazing out into the garden. On the left-hand seat of the sofa (never the middle or the right - are you mad?). And, in a rare crossover with Paul, on the wingback chair in the living room window, looking out over the front garden, the fields, and up the hill to the cloud-filled sky. All are peaceful, comfortable, private and relaxing, and they help soothe the soul on a daily basis. So find your comfy spot and use it well - just try not to take one of Paul’s (he’s not a good sharer).
