Howdy, y'all. It's been a minute, but I've got the itch and want your prompts! This prompt session, I'm focusing on 'word association.' For those of you who don't know what Harrisco is, it's Earth-2 Harrison 'Harry' Wells and Cisco Ramon from the CW's The Flash. It's a tiny ship, and I know it's kind of sinking into obscurity out here in the fandom ether, but I can't seem to let it go. Here's what I need from you... One word. A feeling, a sound, a color, etc. Pick a word you want me to elaborate on and I'll whip out a one-shot about our two favorite idiots-in-love. That's it. That's the post. Or it should be. Because that's how tumblr works, y'all. Especially for fan artists and fanfic writers. Reblogs literally make this wonderful little hellsite go round. Now, let's assume this was never explained to you. Okay... I can do that. First, look at the puppies... I'll explain why they're important in just a minute.

Okay, here's the gist of it, folks. Engagement isn't just clicking that little heart. Sure, it's nice and all. But think of that little heart more like a poke in the arm as you wander by. 'Hey, that's cool. Okay, bye.' -crickets chirping in the background-

Yay? We have something in common? You like my post? Woo! BuT BUT BUT... That's where it ends. It dies right there. You clicking that heart does not move our post beyond that point. It literally stops there. No one else sees that you loved it unless they're searching the tags and stumble across it themselves. Or unless (and here's the most important part) someone else they follow reblogged it.

And suddenly, that little heart and reblog combined take a fly-by poke into an exclamation of 'That's so cool that I want other people to see it, and I want you to make more of it, because we love this, and we NEED it! Everyone LOOK!' Let me tell ya... you have no idea how happy the puppies are now due to one little reblog. The truth is, we content creators (a.k.a. fanfiction writers and fanartists) don't do what we do for money. The majority of us (at least the majority of fanfic writers) don't get paid. What we share with you, what we work so fricken hard on, is FREE. That's right... it's without any cost to you, absolutely no charge. We do it because we love to write or make art, we do it because we want to, we do it because it's in our blood, we do it because we ship the same thing you ship just as hard, we do it because the show pissed us off and we refuse to accept it as canon. No matter why we do it, we still do it for free. That being said... We're like puppies, y'all. (I bet you were wondering when I'd get around to explaining that.) Give us the treats and we'll do more of the thing. What are the treats?

Engagement. Engagement, y'all! For the love of everything creative, we neeeeed the engagement. A.k.a., the reblogs, the shares, the comments -my gods, the comments! The comments are the ultimate treats! Why, you may ask? It's quite simple. We love what we do, and we love that you love what we do, but we're only human. Just like you, we want to know we're doing a good job. We want to know what you think about our work because it encourages us to do MORE. We want to see it being shared because that tickles our creative brain to keep doing MORE. And we want to keep giving all of YOU the 'MORE.' Does that make sense? So... pretty please, don't just poke us on the way by. Give the puppies treats.

It's a modern day AU full of secrets, angst, heartache, joy, dark themes, dubious science, crime, danger, parenthood, steamy scenes, murder, loss, love, and hate. (There will be quite a few trigger warnings throughout, too.)

It's about two men (Harry and Cisco) who are trapped by their secrets but find an impossible connection with each other that makes them want to risk everything for the chance to keep it. (I don't want to give too much away just yet.)

It's about 150,000ish words right now. And I haven't posted a single chapter of it... Yet. My question is this: does anyone want to read it?

I know our ship is small, and that there aren't many of us floating around out here in the Tumblr ether, but I'm willing to pop it up on AO3 if y'all would like.

It was an illusion, the grandest and most deplorable kind that wore people down with nonexistent hope and left them clinging to ghosts. And hope itself was just cruelty to those who had everything to lose. Harry had never had more to lose than he did right now. Maybe that was why he wasn’t a fan of hope, either. There were many differences between himself and Ramon, beautiful-wonderful-wild things that somehow caused an easy balance between them, but Cisco’s unwavering belief in hope seemed to be the biggest difference there was. “We’ve got time!” Cisco snapped, typing furiously on his computer and swiping at the laptop screen. “There’s no time, Ramon,” he growled back, cradling his right arm, taking another unsteady step back as the energy field slipped further toward him. “We don’t even know what the sphere does! Ramon!” He said his name much louder, the gravelly essence of his voice near to booming, and Cisco’s eyes snapped up to him, hands pausing for a moment. “If it expands again, it’ll kill you. Okay, so I wanted you to know I haven't forgotten about this one. At all. It's been swirling around in my brain matter like a marble in a hamster ball. For the life of me, I don't know how to write Reverb. Is that crazy?! My brain is so (our) Cisco coded that I think I need to go back and watch the episodes with Reverb so I can give myself a refresher and go from there. Soooo... bare with me! I will do this! Harry jolted upright, nearly falling out of the chair he’d fallen asleep in as he startled awake, one hand gripping the padded arm, the other out almost in a fist.

It took him a moment to blink away the sudden surge of adrenaline, eyes roaming over the dimly lit living room as he remembered where he was and why he was there. It helped that he didn’t remember whatever it was he’d been dreaming about. Though he could still feel the edges of fear and anger he’d no doubt been wading through. He exhaled, curling forward a bit as he let his body relax, rubbing his face momentarily before he dropped his hands and looked over at the couch.

Cisco was still very asleep, laying on his back, one hand draped over his stomach, his other arm hanging off the couch entirely. His blanket was tucked up around his waist, his green periodic table t-shirt clinging and twisted around his frame. He had a wisp of hair across his forehead, over his nose, and puffing up every time Cisco breathed. He was still pale, but at least he was resting now.

Harry scooted to the edge of his seat, watching him for another long moment before he stood and stretched, then he moved to the couch, crouching beside it. Carefully, he lifted Ramon’s very warm arm and put it back on the cushion. Then he gently swept the hair out of his face. Cisco scrunched his nose for a moment, turning his head and heaving a breath before he settled completely again, utterly exhausted. Harry could hardly blame him.

Some sort of flu that apparently only affected metas was going around. It was terrible, actually. The sort of thing that could land a person in a hospital if they didn’t take care of themselves properly. It didn’t hit Barry very hard, and Snow was only sick for about a day. But for some reason, Cisco couldn’t seem to shake it. He was on day three...
