When I say "shotgun", you say "wedding" "shotgun" - "wedding" "shotgun" - "wedding" boys will be boys hiding in estrogen and boys will be boys boys will be boys hiding in estrogen and wearing Aubergine dreams
I just thought I'd share a fun story with you all, simply because I can.
Freshman year we were in the same English class (god knows why, she did not belong there), and we always argued in class. If we were having a class discussion, we would always disagree with each other, usually because she hadn't read the book and thus said something that made no sense. The one time I agreed with her, my teacher stopped the class, informed everyone that they were witnessing a historic moment, and wrote "IT HAPPENED" on the board with the date and time. That remained up for the rest of the year.
Anyway, one day we had a sub, and we were supposed to be working fairly quietly on something, so everyone was just chatting a little bit. I laughed at something my friend Ben had said, and she felt the need to comment. "Emily, that's really rude of you to be so loud; other people are trying to work." For the record, I've been much louder. So I may have emitted a derisive snort. It's a really unfortunate habit I have, the snorting. So she asked, "What?" I answered, "I just think it's a little ironic to have you of all people lecturing me about respect and doing work," or something along those lines. She got really offended and then it all devolved into her saying things like, "Why don't you like me? Is it because I can't talk as fast as you?" In my defense, I never stood up, I never raised my voice, and I never said anything more outright rude than "We're not friends." To be fair, she didn't say much offensive either. It was all kind of funny, to be honest.
The sub didn't know what to do. If our teacher had been there, it never would have gotten that far. So the sub walked up to me and asked in an attempt at discipline, "Do you need to go outside for a bit?" I answered, "No," and he said, "Okay," and walked away.
We took a poll, and the majority opinion of the class was that I won. Just saying.
Anyway, the arguable point of the story is that within hours, everyone knew about it. Everyone. And then details got grossly exaggerated. By the end of the week, I had total strangers coming up to me and asking, "Is it true that you punched Chloe in the face and then stormed out of the room?" That seemed to be one of the more popular variants, in addition to bitch-slapping her. I just... I'm actually speechless at the way society functions. In any case, it's still a fond memory.
Thank you for reading. This has been a less-than-hilarious post.
