Where most of Glorantha honors earth goddesses as bringers of life, Chen Durel's chief earth cult understands that life is born from death. The follow Shicosheco, who kills that the earth may live, renewing its power in blood. Fueled by potent blood sacrifice, they ensure that enough crops are produced to feed a nation - and more, for they claim to allow the entire world to continue to bring forth new life by renewing it in death. Their great power is limited only by the limits on blood sacrifice placed on them by the Dozaki Laws. Outsiders find them terrifying, even monstrous, but they are exceptionally popular within Chen Durel, not least for their leader being one of the few Mistress Trolls left in the nation, a great hero beloved by all.

QuestWorlds, originally called Hero Wars (and HeroQuest in between those two), is a game that came out of a post-TSR, pre-Forge era of the early 2000s much like the first edition of Fate. Both of these games have the same essential objective: build out a set of mechanics that can take any character on one side, any challenge on the other, and adjudicate that character standing up to that challenge regardless of the specifics. Add in some balancing rules for character creation and advancement, and you’ve got a game that’s ready for anything. Kind of. Both QuestWorlds and Fate make very similar disclaimers about only working with genres with capable and proactive heroes prevailing over larger-than-life challenges. The disempowerment of horror doesn’t really work, nor do the continuous drags of hunger, thirst, or wound management found in survival games. Just, y'know, keep in mind that homebrew quality can vary wildly, and there's a lot of it.

Zorak Zoran is the most powerful war god of the trolls, and even they acknowledge he is the most terrible. But it is better for a terrible monster to be fighting your enemies than to be fighting you, and so Zorak Zoran's cult has never been eradicated. There is always someone in the kingdoms of the Dark who needs extremely violent people to hate and kill.

Before anything else was, there was Darkness. And that Darkness is Subere, that which was before and that which will be after. No light has ever touched her, and when the Sun himself died, his fire could not so much as scratch her surface, and his light could not pass into her. She is an esoteric goddess, beyond many, but worshipped by nobles and leaders among the trolls and Chen Dureli.

A friend asked me about Ourania, a very important sky goddess in the sun worship sphere, whom I had completely forgotten about. I entered a fey mood and in three days have produced Orania here, whose cult has been fading from relevance and power in Pent due to backing the wrong horse and fucking up several times in the Second Age, but will rise again when Sheng returns.
