More 'spring' cleaning and I can't believe I finally found this, over 40 years after it went missing -- my original copy of RuneQuest 2nd ed from 1980, the stand-alone softcover version with Luise Perrin/Perenne's cover art in color, by Steve Perrin & Ray Turney for Chaosium.
At some point ca 1984-85 I thought it was a good idea to tuck it into the back of an unlabeled folder behind some blank graph paper and an encounter I wrote pitting Sartar characters against Lunar Empire agents, across from some notes on heraldry and late 16th century fashion. There is a hint of flood damage, with minor discoloration of the back cover and minimal paper wrinkling, but it still looks pretty good for a used copy approaching 50 years old.
Runequest is really cool because you can be flipping through a 20 year old fanzine and find incredible things, like this:
a commission for a friend! featuring his vision of Ralzakark from Glorantha, the king of the beastfolk
here he is pouring blood on the stone as an ironic gesture, because the stone depicts the battle of Arkat and Nysalor (and Arkat is winning), and here, Ralzakark is the reincarnation of Nysalor! So he is kinda mocking Arkat by making a gift of blood to the idol of his nemesis

i have two descriptions for this and you can pick the one you find funnier and ignore the other:
horses are magical animals because they keep casting this spell on themselves at random all the damn time
horses just do this all the time all by themselves with no magic involved. do we really need a spell for this?
