Why can we be Glad?
Life is heavy, difficult,
But I can look up at the clouds,
Drift into the skies above,
And that makes me smile.
Humans commit atrocities,
And all I can do is turn away,
But more people fight it,
Reach out to help each other,
So how can we not celebrate them?
The world is warming, changing,
Yet we can change our habits,
Plant our own trees and gardens,
Give ourselves oasis of peace.
This room is claustraphobic,
Lonely, isolating for all the colour,
But I can message friends here,
Reach out to people and laugh,
Make friends without meeting.
How can that be anything but wonderful?
I’ll celebrate the world we live,
The kindness endlessly strived for
And all the communites that grow.
Of course we can be glad together,
There’s light in all the darkness.
