VR Preview
After the Quest headset is connected to the PC, I wanted to make sure that the VR preview inside Unreal Engine is working perfectly. This atleast allows me to note and make some final edits before I move on to the final phase, exporting a proper game build for the Oculus headset.
Before you preview the VR scene, you should make sure that the SteamVR application is running in the background as it allows you to properly utilize the headset as well as the controllers. Inside the Unreal Engine, you click on the three dots and click on the 'VR Preview' option. The image below has the button greyed out as I hadn't connected the VR headset yet.

Here are some of the still images that I screenshotted while I was playing the VR preview of the level.

The pictures above depict me traversing, picking up grabbable assets and just viewing the environment around. While it was a really difficult and arduous task to try complete this project, it was immensely rewarding when I got to preview it firsthand inside the VR headset. It really feels like the world belongs inside the 'Iron Giant' movie.
Now having tested the preview in VR, I move to the final phase of the project which is trying to export this VR level as a standalone game so that I can import it inside Quest 2.

Setting up the Oculus Quest 2 #1
This is my first time interacting with the Quest 2, let alone a VR headset. I need thorough preparation before I tackle this arduous task. Fortunately there are a lot of guides online that can help you connect your Quest 2 to your pc.
A tutorial on Wikihow has a really good giude on how to setup the Quest 2. You can connect Quest 2 using 2 different methods; a wireless and a wired connection. I will first detail the wireless method to connect Quest 2 to your pc.
Figure 1 (Downloading the Oculus Setup file, (Kengly, 2024))
You first need to download the Oculus Setup file from the official Meta website. That serves as an interface for the connection of Quest 2 to the pc.
Figure 2 (Downloading SteamVR, (Kengly, 2024))
Inside the Steam application, you also need to make sure that SteamVR is downloaded as it allows to play VR games on your headset. I have seen some other guides that have not recommended this step, however I do deem it very crucial if you want to preview your VR scene with a VR headset, or just play VR games in general.
Figure 3 (Connecting the Oculus app to the WiFi, (Kengly, 2024))
After you install the Oculus app, you have to open it and make sure that the app is connected to the WiFi. If you are going the wireless route, we connect the Oculus to the pc using an AirLink and for that, you need to be connected to the WiFi.
Figure 4 (Turning on AirLink, (Kengly, 2024))
You do have to make sure that the AirLink option inside the Oculus app is turned on. This allows you to access the VR apps on your PC without a cable.
Figure 5 (Connecting to the PC, (Kengly, 2024))
After you have turned on the WiFi and the AirLink option inside the Oculus app, you should see your PC available under the 'Available PCs' section. You can then pair your PC with the Quest 2.
While pairing up the Quest 2, the app will demand you to enter a 6 digit code. This can be seen inside the Quest 2 headset, once you put it on.
Figure 6 (6 digit AirLink pair code, (Kengly, 2024))
Once you are connected after entering your 6 digit code, you can then put on your headset, navigate to the 'Monitor' icon and click on your 'Launch'. This launches your PC connection to the Quest 2 via the AirLink.
Figure 7 (Launching the AirLink, (Kengly, 2024))
Even though these steps seem really straightforward, I really had a hard time trying to pair my Quest 2 to the PC. Thus, I might try connecting the Quest 2 via the wired connection.
