Vampire!Ryan for spooky season.

I wanted that creepy, green glow of night vision, with the decaying, urban aesthetic that bfu has going on. First time drawing The Bergmeister, so I very much used a bfu cap as reference. I like how it turned out, but I actually wanted a more stylized approach and I over-thought it, so I might have to do another one later. 😂

I dunno if this was a relatively offhand ask, but I've really been turning it over in my head tbh.

Because if you subscribe to the idea of a bratty sub Ryan-and I know many do-but you also consume the content Watcher puts out, it's very difficult to marry the Daddy Dom Shane characterisation of yester-year with the image of a man clinging to studied nonchalance, refusing to look his baser emotions in the eye.

More specific to your ask, anon, we see someone who deftly ducks any flirtatious teasing, any prodding innuendo. Ryan, practically sinking to his knees, is met with a light blush, and a metric shit-tonne of deflection.

"Big boy," Ryan says.

"HOO, okay, how about the weather today, huh?" Shane replies.

Some of my very favourite writers and thinkers in the Shyan fandom space have talked about or written really interesting stuff on a Shane who is deeply, painfully reticent in the face of emotional vulnerability and the risks thereof.

And barely a week goes by that we don't drill down into Shane's character in the @skepticbeliever-bookclub, generally after another podcast ep during which Ryan displays huge depths of emotional intelligence and Shane does a marionette show of advice, dispensing generic and sensible platitudes that I'm not sure he really believes, and deflecting through strange anecdotes.

I hope this doesn't seem overly critical of him, I actually relate quite a lot to the ways he comports himself in the face of strong emotion in person, I just find it really amusing. Particularly given the amount of emotion and character just bubbling up from Ryan at all times. Maybe that's why I think of them as being so well-matched, yin to yang or whatever.

2. What’s next on your ‘to-read’ list? (Fan fiction or otherwise)

I have Ann Rule’s The Stranger Beside Me sitting on my nightstand that I keep meaning to read. Fic-wise, I’m really looking forward to @queerunsolved‘s final chapter of With the Tide. (Peer pressure!)

10. Mutual pining or enemies to friends to lovers?

Good enemies to friends to lovers already has mutual pining, so I get the best of both worlds with that! And more humor opportunities. 

20. Do you have a favorite fanfic or author? If so, tag them/post a link and share the love!

My favorite fanfic of all time is The Case of Leonard McCoy by AceOf Spades. I’ve read it multiple times and it has pretty much everything I look for in a fic.

Here’s a sneak peek to a plotty smut I’m working on. That is angst, by the way.

“Don’t do this.” He said, the sound of it felt like a punch on his gut and Ryan frowned. “Ry, I know why you want this to happen but— we should talk about it first, don’t you think?”

“I know.” Ryan nodded, swallowing while looking down, one hand going to Shane’s chest. “I do need it, though. We haven’t—“ He looked up again, Shane was giving him his full attention. “Since we got back together, we haven’t— Shane?”

Maybe he shouldn’t had said “back together”, maybe he shouldn’t have made them take a break in the first place. Shane looked in pain now, as if being reminded of their separation brought him back to that time at the end of last year and beginning of this.

12. What was your favorite movie of the year?

Ooo. Hmm. I’m trying to remember what I went to see this year aside from Endgame - which was surely not my favourite movie of the year. I didn’t see too many movies I don’t think, but it’s definitely either Far From Home or Captain Marvel. I’m superhero trash when it comes to cinema at the theatre. 

25. Do you regret not doing anything?

Several things. All of which I cannot talk about in public. However, not doing them has made me realise that I truly do want to do them, so that’s a silver lining, I guess?
