Reposted from @spunnomadittyco Me and Chastity from @dyehardyarns_op have created a weekly Queer Stitch Group and it is very special to me because I've never been accepted in many queer spaces, I never felt comfortable or safe! Most of the queer spaces are filled with white cis people that either have been blatantly racist, sugar coated their racism and/or looked the other way when it happens. Those "safe" spaces were not made for me and they absolutely excluded whatever was below their standards of queerness, you had to fit in their narrow box to "fit" in. That's why when Chastity suggested the notion of creating a space for us I jumped on it, I want to be surrounded by those who don't fit in and those who appreciate the people that lifted them up! I want a space where people can feel like they are at home, a space where people won't be judged by what makes them special! That's what we want to create an actual safe space for queers! Y'all, the amount of love and support was overwhelming and I just want to thank you all so much. Between your messages, comments, and me finally acknowledging my feelings, it felt like the dam finally burst and inspiration came flooding back. I've been trying to keep up with more extensive daily journaling and filled a whole page and a half with ideas and plans for this year and I'm so excited to share it all soon. But it hasn't been all sunshine and roses. I had planned on posting this yesterday, but instead I spent my day having to change over 150 passwords due to a 3rd party data breach. We also managed to schedule our house payment for the wrong day, so we had to scramble to cover the costs and completely wiped out our savings. I'm just hoping we'll have more than a dollar in the bank by next Friday. When it rains it pours, right? Anyway, thank you all once again.
