my grandfather is in heaven my grandfather is beneath the ground is he looking down upon me is he proud of how much love i can conjure is he proud of how much dedication, fervour, and ardour i can fathom for someone is he watching me kiss her every scar every crease every inch does he think it's rotten wretched wicked that i'd name constellations after her would he condemn me to hell because i found myself a paradise in her am i now a reprobate in his eyes that once held me as high as the skies it's been three years and he hasn't visited me not even once in my dreams yet his gaze haunts me every time i even dare to think of touching another girl is he proud of how much love i can fathom or would he rather i felt nothing for no one as long as it wasn't someone of the same skin as me — r.a., 03.03.17

COMING OUT: I was kind of pulled out of the closet by my mom this year and after nagging me to tell her about boys, she asked if I liked girls and I said yes. They think that it's the way I think that is wrong. They told me to change or else I'll lose them... thankfully, they didn't invade my privacy or anything like that. But it still hurts that they didn't even try to accept it. I understand where they are coming from, but I still think people should start educating themselves about this.
Thank you for sharing your story with us. It must have been a really tough experience for you. And yes, we do agree, people should start educating themselves. And we should start speaking up for ourselves.

in a frenzy of shame and desire i prayed to god if i may not have her if i may not love her to take her away from me to let me forget how the warmth of her body contrasted with the coldness of mine how her tiny toes peaked from underneath my blanket
how she memorised the veins on my wrists and doodled them when she was absent-minded how she kissed my eyelids the same way she kissed my thighs how i never thought of his heaven when i was in hers
how on our first night together the light from the tv in her sister’s dimly-lit room reflected on her skin and how i was convinced that it was her glowing it wasn’t the tv it was her
i prayed to god because i knew he never listened to me but that one time he did
i never prayed to him again
