あああああ!! S-senpai.....
Carrot from @carrotsoupcomic which is great y’all should go read it because the big reveal of my problematic faves is happening soon and also Carrot is adorbs and also, to put on my tumblr baby hat for a moment, it’s got a canon mlm relationship uwu and lgbtqia representation uwu~~
(and to put on my comic artist hat, QWC’s art and storytelling skills grow by the page and it’s so much fun to see this world evolve and it’s also nice to see two men in a May December relationship already in the middle of their relationship navigating a fantasy world where people are just as dangerous as the beasts lurking in the forest.)
ok but why are people blaming antis when it was literally staff who deleted qwc in the first place it doesnt add up even if we wanted to delete him its not like we could have done in the first place so lmao - mod lizzy

You do bring up a good point with the fallout of a broken engagement in society. And you are right that they never do talk in the manga. He doesn't seem to be willing to let her in at all and doesn't ask about her feelings. He may feel that it's best for both to just let it play out. Ether way I've said before that the people who will probably get hurt the most in the end of Kuro is going to be Lizzy.
I agree. I dont think there’s anyone else who’s as close to Ciel as Lizzy in family terms - Soma and Agni love him and the servants love him, of course, and Frances probably cares for him too as her nephew but I do think Lizzy will suffer the most.
But on the bright side, if we assume she will get to have a long life ahead of her, I’m sure some day she will find the happiness she couldnt have with Ciel and it wont be tained by all the pain and suffering and hiding that she’s going through now...that sounded a bit like Bravat, didnt it? XD
But the kindest thing he could do is let her go. There is no way he will not either die or leave, aside from in story reasons it would just make the whole story feel hollow if after everything the contact and revenge meant nothing. But the longer she spends thinking the only good she is is being his wife the harder it will be for her to get over it. But Ciel cares more about keeping up appearances and than doing what he knows will be best for her and letting her be happy which is sad really.
But he doesnt know this is how she feels. He only sees the overly happy girl without a care in the world because that’s what she lets him see. He finally got a glimpse of the struggle she’s having on the Campania and I’m not sure how it continued from there since I havent gotten to that part fo the manga yet so I wont comment on that (though from the spoilers I’ve seen about th newest arc they dont seem to have had an in-depth convo about feelings yet) but from what I’ve seen he is pretty clueless to what goes on in her life/heart. Probably more so than she is really because while he cares about her general well-being, he’s not that interesting in the specifics like asking how her day was/if she’s feeling ok/what’s on her mind/etc. That sort of thing. So from his POV it’s like here’s my cousin/fiancee who seems extremely in love with me and happy to be my wife and I’ll break her heart if I end the engagement. So why not let her have this happiness now because at some point soon I’ll be dead and she’ll be heartbroken anyway.
I think if he knew he was hurting her, he would end the engagement for her sake if nothing else. Although there is also the social aspect to consider - I mean if he broke up with her, her and her family name would most likely be tarnished some. People would gossip, probably wonder what she did to make him end it, rumours would fly, I imagine for a family like the Midfords that would be very difficult to deal with. And Lizzy would have her own heartbreak to handle on top of navigating high society politics.
In a way I guess it would be kinder to let her go now if he knew what we know. But on the other hand, like I said I feel like that would just be adding more pain to her plate - it’s one thing to lose your fiance because he died and it’s another to lose him once because he broke up with you and THEN to lose him again because he died. Of course, there is also the fact that they are basically just lying to each other now so wouldnt it be good to end that as well? I guess it depends on the perspective - whether it’s better to know the truth no matter how much it hurts or to remain in the dark and happy. Ignorance is bliss after all. In this case specifically, I do think it will do Lizzy some good to know the truth, though again it will also be pretty painful to realise her dream of a happy loving marriage will never come to pass even if Ciel miraciously stays alive (which I dont think he will btw, I think he’ll either die or end like the anime).
I agree, I don't think that Ciel is really interesting in her in a romantic way. He loves her like family but he is just too focused on his work and revenge to care about traditional love and romance (which are very important to her) but many victorian marriages were just for confidence. He doesn't care if she is 'not cute' if anything he just would like her to stop jumping on him and screaming and upsetting his plans. I think the less hung up being cute she is the better friends they could be.
Exactly.
Like I said, if anything he’s most likely glad she can fight so he doesnt have to worry as much. And even if it wasnt that, either way I dont think he would care if she liked pink dresses or automatic guns because that sort of “issues” are just the last thing on his mind right now.
I definitely agree he’s not in love with her but loves her like family. I’ve actually agrued that she’s not really in love with him either but she wants to make herself *be in love* with him because I think she wants to have a happy loving marriage and since she’s always known that marriage would be with Ciel, she’s convinced herself she’s in love with him in order to have that happy future. And since he was already her beloved childhood friend/cousin, it wouldnt be too hard to go from that love to romantic love, right?
But I dont think she is really in love deep down - if for no other reason, because she doesnt know the Ciel he is now. How can you love someone that you dont know? She sees the cracks in his facade and she knows objectively there’s something darker in his life since he’s the Watchdog but she doesnt really know the person he’s become. She doesnt know what he’s been through, she doesnt know how he feels, she doesnt know his desires, goals, wishes. I think she’s too focused on trying to being back the Ciel she knew/loved from before the fire and ot makes me wonder how she would feel and react if she sees this new Ciel in all his glory - would she be understanding if upset at what he’s had to endure? Or would she be completely repulsed/outraged?
Either way, it’s definitely some interesting food for thought I think. In a lot of ways Ciel and Lizzy are like mirrors of each other - they’re both lying to the other for their sake, pretending to be something they’re not because they think it will make the other happy while hiding this darker side of themselves. They love each other like family but Lizzy is pushing herself to make it more in pursuit of happiness and Ciel has pretty much given up on such “normal” unimportant in the grand scheme of his plans aspects of life. I will be interesting to see them finally clash with each other and admit the things they’ve been hiding.
