Nebris didn’t get out of bed for several days. He didn’t really think there was a point to doing so. He had randomly encountered his soulmate and the chances of that happening again were extremely slim. Liz had scared him off and he would never see him again. Just as Nebris was closing his eyes and going back to sleep, something he had done excessively since that day, there was a knock on his door.

Who could that even be? Nebris asked himself. He was no longer friends with Liz so it couldn’t be her. Even though he was a mess, Nebris decided to answer the door. He could probably use the company, after all.

Upon opening the door, he discovered it was his friend, MC. MC glared at him and pushed past him inside his residence.

“Umm, come in?” said Nebris confusedly.

“Yeah I will come in. Where the hell have you been? You haven’t answered my texts or calls and I’ve been worried about you. You look awful, for the record.”

“Well, thanks, MC. It’s nice to see you too.”

“Nebs, you know I love you and I mean well and seriously, don’t come any closer to me until you’ve taken a shower, you’re disgusting. Why won’t you talk to me? Tell me what’s wrong!”

“Hasn’t Liz told you? I was sure she would have told everyone by now with that big mouth of hers.”

“Told me what? I haven’t heard from Liz in a while. I just know she’s with her soulmate all the time. She posts enough about it on Facebook.”

“I-uh-came across my soulmate the other day.”

“You WHAT? And you didn’t tell me?! Wait, isn’t that good news? If you  met your soulmate, why aren’t they here demanding  you take care of yourself?”

“Well that’s where Liz comes in. She scared him off. I don’t even know his name. I just know that he’s gorgeous and mine and yet, I don’t know how to find him again.”

“Well, what about work? Haven’t you been going?”

“I got fired because I got really drunk and didn’t come into work that next day.”

“So you’ve been moping?”

“I’ve just been really sad. You’d be too if you had met Millbee for a brief second and then had him taken from you and with him, the colorful world.”

“Well your time for moping is over, my friend. Go take a shower now and then I’ll tell you what to do from there!”

“MCCCCCC, stop acting like my mother.”

“No, I will not because you obviously have forgotten how to be a human being and quite frankly I’d rather have my friend Nebris back than be too scared of getting the reputation of the mom friend to put you in your damn place. Now do as I say or I will get Millbee in here and we’ll give you a bath like parents do to their little kids.”

Nebris moaned and groaned for a couple more minutes but then begrudgingly stomped into the shower. He had to admit, the water did feel really nice. He was actually really grateful to MC for telling him how it was, but he was too damn stubborn to ever admit that to his friend. Once he had finished showering and had put on some nice fresh clothes, he went back out to MC.

“What now, mother?”

“Haha, cute,” sneered MC and then said, “When was the last time you entered the real world, Nebris?”

“I think you know, MC.”

“Alright, well we are going to change that. You and I are going out to lunch, my treat and I don’t want to hear any arguments from you!”

“Thank you, MC. That’s really nice of you. I’m sorry I’ve been such a horrible friend.”

“You haven’t been a horrible friend. I get why you’ve been upset, but your soulmate’s not just gonna appear in your room, you know, although wouldn’t that be convenient. In order to find him, you gotta get yourself out there.”

“You’re right, MC.”

“I know. I usually am.”
